JOB OBJECTIVES:
Assume responsibility for all communications activities of the various Catalysts business units operating in mainland China. Support the Catalysts communications manager for the Asia-Pacific region (based in Hong Kong), and advise the local management teams operating in China on all communications-related matters. The position is responsible for the China-based core communications of the designated groups including market communications, internal communications, crisis communications, branding and public relations.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Advise members of the relevant management teams on all communications-related issues.
2. Responsible for the core communications of the various Catalysts business units operating in the China region including market communications, internal communications, crisis communications, branding and public relations.
3. Market Communications - Plan marketing communications for each business based on product, segment and customer strategies. Implement excellent marketing communications such as product launches, customer events, industry target group events, promotions, fairs and exhibitions, product advertising, trade press releases, online activities, etc.
4. Branding - Develop and implement a consistent product branding strategy for the business as part of the global branding strategy. Systematic and continuous exploitation of branding opportunities.
5. PR function - Implement PR strategy in trade media. Screen trade publications. Foster good working contacts with trade journalists. Invite journalists for interviews. Ensure good coverage of CC topics in trade media. Coordinate briefing documents for media interviews, top management speeches, etc.
6. Issues Management - Identify current and emerging issues (industry-related, social, economic, cultural or otherwise) that are likely to affect the organization and its perception among key constituents. Work closely with the global and regional communications network to build strategic communications plans to proactively manage these issues in order to protect and enhance the company's reputation and brand.
7. Internal communications - Assist members of the CC management team in delivering effective communications within the GBUs, the Division and the Region. Develop and implement internal communication tools such as internal publications, bulletins, online etc.
8. Liaise with Global Communications Catalysts Division, Regional Corporate Communications and Country Corporate Communications and coordinate all relevant communications activities to ensure co-ordination and alignment in all communications related matters.
9. Build up and implement a market communications organization in China region.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor degree in Journalism, Marketing or Mass Communications.
2. 5 - 8 years working experience in public relations, project management, and marketing communication, preferably both in agency and in-house as well as in a multicultural environment.
3. Excellent English and preferably good Mandarin language verbal and written communication skills.
4. Demonstrated proficiency in presentations, event moderation and public speaking. Excellent working knowledge of standard computer programs (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Templates, Webmaster).
5. Strong competence in influencing and impact in order to lead the communications activities in a complex region and to influence global, regional and local counter-parts.
6. Excellent creative and conceptual abilities (planning, analytical, creative, client and goal oriented).
7. Major focus on customer relationship management and cultivation (creation of concept, execution, ability to set guidelines and deadlines, manage budgets)
8. Intercultural/international management and negotiation skills and good understanding of Asian markets and its cultures in particular.
9. High commitment and willingness for working hands-on.
