Assignment Brief -Telecom Technical Consultant, China, Asia Pacific


The Position

The Company is well-established in Asia and placed to take advantage of the strong growth opportunities in the banking, telco and transportation sectors. A solid Telecom Technical Consultant is required with outstanding Technical skills, good technical relationships in the China market and experience with international companies.

The Telecom Technical Consultant, China, Asia Pacific reports to the Telecom Technical Support Manager and is based in Beijing, though the role will require extensive travel in Asia.


Purpose of the Job

The Telecom Technical Consultant is responsible for technical relationships with key personnel of OT customers. This role primarily features two key elements:
? Provide professional technical consultation to OT customers in particular to advise on the best technical solutions and to ensure that customers understand the OT Product Roadmaps
? Manage the whole product lifecycle and ensure that solutions fully compliant to customer specification are implemented into production without ambiguity


Main Responsibilities

? Develop and Maintain the Technical Relationship with key personnel within OT customers, and potential targets. This involves regular meetings and supporting their function by problem solving and providing technical expertise. Using OT Product Knowledge and knowledge of the market place, provide consultancy to the customer to create feasible and profitable solutions
? Implementation and Integration of Customer Products. Taken through the whole product lifecycle, from capturing the customer requirements, designing technical solutions proposals, implementing these proposals with Oberthur product offerings (including software development) and testing the solutions within the customers' network to ensure that their requirements have been fulfilled and investigating or analyzing customer complaint. This process will involve on-site product customization
? Match the customer's requirements with Oberthur Products and Solutions, helping the customer to develop their solutions and strategies to identify new revenue streams that could be advantageous to both parties. Assist in ensuring that Oberthur's product roadmap matches customer requirements and market trends (Failure to do so, would result in not being able to supply a product).
? Field Marketing, feeding relevant market information back into the business unit for effective product management. Within this capacity, acting as a first point of contact for any member of China Region to contact on specific issues. Advising Oberthur on emerging markets and technology, highlighting potential revenue streams.
? Testing and Approval of Customer Products, working with the customer and R&D to ensure that all of the customers' requirements have been met, and that the product is bug free. This involves on-site testing, working to ensure that the customer has total satisfaction and confidence in the product.
? Technical Project Management, involving with R&D and ensuring that individual aspects of the project are being developed on schedule and to specification.
? Provide Product and Technology Training both to Oberthur Personnel and Customers. This can range from overviews of card technology, to in-depth 5-day development training courses in Singapore. When presented to internal personnel, the aim is raising product knowledge for other customer facing functions, ensuring Oberthur is portrayed as a consistent and professional organization.
? Devise and present demonstrations for future and emerging technologies, to portray Oberthur as a forward thinking organization. Looking and identifying potential market trends, and producing a demonstration that could be sold.


Job Skill Requirements
Experience Required
? Minimum of 3 years in a related business sector
? Or 2+ years specifically in SmartCard
? Proven experience in the role of primary technical interface to Customers.
? Knowledge of the card industry
Education / professional qualifications required
? Graduate calibre (Electronic Engineering/Computer Science / Software Engineering or similar technical discipline)
? This can be waived if previous experience in similar role is deemed to be sufficient
