As a System Drives LPG R&D Manager, you will be part of the Motion (M) Business and Drives and Controls (BL) Business Line, based in Beijing. ABB is the World leader in Motion (M) Business offering a wide range of products and services including drives, motors, generators and robots. Key applications include energy conversion, actuation, automation, standardized manufacturing cells for applications such as machine tending, welding, cutting, painting, finishing, palletizing and packing, and engineered systems for the automotive industry.

You will contribute significantly to successful results in projects in System Drives PG/ Drives and Controls Business Line/ Motion Business in Beijing state/China country/NAS region. Reporting to the LPG Manager, you manage and develop the LV High Power Drives and MV Drives R&D organization in China in order to develop specific and customized products to meet Local, Regional and Global market requirement. Support organization in identifying new OEM business in China Market and speed up development process of global products for achieving shorter time to market. Identify local talent for R&D team leader and improve organization competence.

? Lead R&D team, and take the responsibility of people management, knowledge sharing and recruitment.
? Manage and control R&D team activities and resources including budgeting and reporting.
? Identify and coach talents in R&D team.
? Strategy and roadmap planning.
? Manage project portfolio, Regional Portfolio Management Group (PMG) Chairman.
? Take the lead in process of product design and maintenance. Implement and follow global processes, involve local R&D organization to national and international standardization.
? Ensure lean and agile execution of product development projects according to product roadmap.
? Develop technical and project management competence.
? Support organization to find regional product customization opportunities, and visit customers.
? Regular communication and cooperation with PG R&D.
? Provide technical support to sales, service team and customers.
? Improve collaboration between System Drives R&D and product engineering team.
? Cooperating with universities and research centers to find applicable future technologies.

? A University Degree in Engineering (Master’s degree is strong plus).
? More than 3 years of R&D project management experience or management experience in R&D/PE position.
? Expertise in cooperation and negotiation skills when working with multicultural environment.
? Strong technical background in the area of Electrical Drives and R&D and Strong networking skills with BU R&D.
? Leading the change towards lean & agile product development
? Good R&D process knowledge including product creation process and Gate model.
? Knowledge of electrical, mechanical and software design processes and tools.
? Proficient with MS Office and other IS-tools used by ABB.
? Strong leadership and excellent communication skills.
? Motivated in working in a very dynamic and fast changing business environment.
? Management and leadership skills is must.
? Fluent in oral and written English. (Chinese language knowledge is a plus).
