As a Project Engineer, you will be part of the Power Grids (PG) Business and Grid Integration (BL) Business Line, based in Beijing. ABB is World’s No.1 in Power Products Business and the product manufactured becomes the key components to transmit and distribute electricity. The division incorporates ABB’s manufacturing network for Transformers, Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Cables and associated equipment. It also offers all the services needed to ensure products’ performance and extend their lifespan.

You will be the authority for diverse engineering projects in HVDC Product Group/ Grid Integration (BL) Business Line / Power Grids (PG) Business in Beijing /China country/NAS region. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of assigned project deliverables on time, within budget and in line with relevant quality and safety guidelines.

? Responsible for developing the conceptual system design for proposals/tenders based on technical specifications and commercial requirements to ensure we have economical and technical solutions needed to win projects.
? Perform system design for projects based on technical specifications and commercial contractual requirements to facilitate the completion of projects and provision of service within cost, timescale, technical and quality targets and customer satisfaction.
? Notify the Project Manager of any difficulties encountered in the system design that may adversely impact safety, reliability, quality, cost, or schedule of the ABB project deliverables, and provide recommendations for solutions.
? Participate in system design reviews and system design approvals with customer.
? Maintain close contact with customers and project participants to identify and resolves issues of mutual concern and to seek opportunities for additional business. Attend customer meetings as required.
? Coordinate with all departments to assist in accomplishing the project goals, including performing technical, cost savings, and constructability reviews of design packages from internal ABB engineering, outsourced sub-contractor engineering and equipment factories.
? Generate equipment specifications, review sub-supplier documentation and witness factory acceptance testing, as applicable.
? Supervise, plan and actively participate in the Factory Acceptance Test, System test and Site Acceptance Test with customer and/or other ABB units.
? Evaluate conceptual designs based upon commercial requirements balancing the design complexity with required functionality and cost.
? Adhere to ABB HVDC quality and document control procedures to ensure design documents are complete and accurate.

? Master’s Degree or above, major in Electrical Engineering is required.
? Experience of HVDC or other grid applications of power electronics, e.g., FACTS is a plus.
? Expertise in Power System and Automation or High Voltage.
? Good at system analysis or high voltage products.
? Familiar with power system simulation tools, such as PSCAD/EMTDC, BPA, PSSE.
? Travel frequently on business work.
? Absolutely trustworthy, organized, methodical and orderly.
? Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
? Able to work under high pressure, self-driven and self-motivated.
? Prepared to follow instructions and guidelines set by the ABB Group.
? Willing and able to perform practical work in the lab and on sites under longer period.
? Fluent in oral and written English and Mandarin (Additional language skills is an advantage).
