Position: Product Planning
Division/Department: Volkswagen Group China / Product Strategy & Product Planning
Location: Beijing
Main goals and objectives:
Product Planning manager is responsible to drive development and implementation of future car projects for Skoda Brand in China. This function is the driver to implement new product strategies in the region and with this ensuring the medium and long-term competitiveness of the Brand in China.
This function will achieve these goals by leading cross functional project teams, guiding their work by PEP standard timelines and financial targets. This includes collaboration with headquarters and JV colleagues.
- Focus of responsibility is on the early (strategic) phase of car projects with the ultimate objective to achieve PD/PF milestone with positive financial feasibility, sign licensing agreements and project handover to JV. The function will keep tracking and supporting the project until EOP.
Your Responsibilities:
Steer cross-functional product team between VGC, JV and headquarter to realize ambitious car project realization
Develop medium and long-term successful product strategies
Work out positioning and product definitions for current and future product range.
Define key characteristics and evaluate financial and technical feasibility
3. Coordinate investigation of technical feasibility of future car products in order to implement desired China market / customer requirements
define platform premises include lifecycle and features
define powertrain roadmap and necessary regulatory and emission requirements, include also BEV related issues, if needed, like battery density
define innovation roadmap for car project in accordance with and clarify the underlying technical features and clarify technical roadmap
4. Support development of PSK/VAP presentations (China-, Skoda, Group-VAP and related pre-committees)
Coordinate on time preparation of relevant department inputs
Validation of input based on reference project and competitor benchmarks
Prepare Vorlagen and aligning with stakeholders
5. Organize Eigenschaftsworkshops and other early phase workshops
Organize Eigenschaftsworkshop to define car characteristics, incl. core competitor test drives to identify strength and weakness
Defining competitive offer structure while considering financial and competitiveness of future product generation
Aligning input with relevant stakeholders and agree on common proposal
6. Conduct cost optimization efforts to achieve project feasibility and GSV readiness
Organize cross-entity cost optimization workshops
Organize supplier workshops to find low cost measures
Coordinating preparation and idea collection with stakeholders
Set up and document workshop results
7. Team management and leadership
Steer cross functional product team to achieve common goals
Guide counter parts by defining and agreeing on targets, deadlines and following up on those
Documenting project progress and next steps by meeting minutes and roadmaps
Steer external partners and support staff to reach achieve working targets
Guide and mentor new colleagues and interns by teaching and supporting their work and integrating them in the working progress
Our Requirements:
Necessary education:
- University studies: business economics, marketing and sales, business management, industrial engineer or similar; (master degree, MBA preferred)
Professional experience:
5-8 years of product management, engineering, purchasing, strategy, research and planning experience or similar fields
Proven track record of implementing strategies and leading a product team
Automotive knowledge and relative product technology knowledge
Professional product management knowledge
Professional knowledge in financial product calculation, R&D, purchasing, production and quality management
Professional knowledge about product marketing, customer and product research
Strong customer orientation and understanding of market trends
Good data processing ability, strong with creating pregnant presentations, and precise Vorlagen
- Excellent oral and written expression
Personal skills:

Self-driven, entrepreneurial spirit
Readiness to accept responsibility
Communication skill, persuasive appearance
- Good English and German language skills (fluent in spoken and written), Chinese language is a plus
