Summary: The U.S. Mission in Guangzhou is seeking one eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Computer Control Clerk within Information Programs Center (IPC).


The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)



Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.


Supervisory Position: No


Duties: Incumbent acts as an administrative assistant for IRM at post as well as first point of contact for users with IT services issues. Primary responsibilities include managing the MyServices ticket queue and assigning trouble tickets to appropriate IRM staff; answering phone calls for IRM staff as well as Cantonese language callers transferred from Beijing switchboard operators; providing Tier 1 IT support that does not require system administrator permissions; and managing inventory, software licenses, and bills.


Qualifications and Evaluations


Education: Completion of college studies is required.


Requirements:


EXPERIENCE: Two years of progressive responsibilities in a combination of clerical work, Windows 7, Windows 10, IT Helpdesk, and desktop support.


JOB KNOWLEDGE:


Thorough knowledge of Microsoft operating systems (Windows 7, Windows 10) as well as the Microsoft Office Suites (Office 2010 and Office 2016) and Office365. In-depth technical knowledge of mobile computing and digital video conferencing operations is required. In addition to historical knowledge, the incumbent must stay abreast of new and emerging technology developments.


Evaluations:


LANGUAGE: Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required. (This may be tested.)


Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing of Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) is required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical and logistic problems related to multimedia equipment. Ability to communicate orally and convey technical information to both experts and lay people and train and direct others in the operation of Microsoft Office, Windows and mobile and DVC equipment. Ability to take direction, coordinates, and manage a wide range of activities to meet program goals, priorities, and deadlines. Incumbent must be able to diagnose and solve problems in a timely matter. Must be tactful, courteous and exercise good judgement when dealing with the public, government officials and employees.


Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
