Summary: The U.S. Mission in Beijing is seeking an eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Agricultural Marketing Assistant.



Work schedule: Full Time (40 hours per week)


Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time after receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.



Supervisory Position: No


Duties:


The Agricultural Marketing Assistant assists Marketing Specialists and the Director in designing, organizing, and managing Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) marketing activities, from strategic planning through recruiting, budgeting, supervision of contractors, and after-event reporting. Provides logistical support to visitors, such as business and government delegations. Drafts strategic marketing plans for assigned sectors, and provides insight on market conditions within these assigned sectors. Oversees internal outreach and reporting initiatives with U.S. Embassy, Consulate, and Foreign Agricultural Services (FAS) stakeholders. Serves as the backup to the administrative assistant, which would include temporarily managing financial and budgetary tasks in consultation with the Director.




Qualifications and Evaluations


Education: Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Business, Trade, Agriculture or Marketing, or equivalent sub-fields such as Agricultural Marketing or International Affairs or Business.



Requirements:


EXPERIENCE: Minimum three years' experience in any of the following fields: food marketing, food processing/manufacturing, hospitality, import logistics, agricultural trade or agribusiness.




JOB KNOWLEDGE: Basic familiarity with food and agriculture business is required.



Evaluations:


LANGUAGE: Level IV (Fluent) reading/writing/speaking in English is required. (This will be tested.)


Level IV (Fluent) reading/writing/speaking in Chinese is required.



SKILLS AND ABILITIES: This position requires the ability to make presentations using PowerPoint in both English and Chinese, to a wide range of audiences, including U.S. and Chinese business leaders, government officials and industry associations. Basic computer skills, the ability to deal with complex budgets, the ability to negotiate agreements with multiple parties and the ability to work under extreme time pressure all required.



Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
