Job Title: Process Category Director, Nutritional Beverage & Long-Life Dairy FLSA Status: Exempt Division: Food & Beverage Department: Sales & Marketing Location: China Reports to: VP, Strategic Accounts & Process Categories

JOB SUMMARY

The Process Category Director position will be the Nutritional Beverage & Long-Life Dairy Industry sector expert and responsible for leading the differentiation of the SPX FLOW process solutions within this category globally. The person in this role will influence the emotional decisions of customers for SPX FLOW process equipment as your team members understand all aspects of the applications and characteristics of their final products. The Process Category leader and their team members support regional commercial teams and key account managers in sales efforts.

In addition to the Commercial team, this role will work in close collaboration with the Technologies & Components Product Management, Global Design, Proposals and Project Delivery departments. Communication with all involved parties is key to success for setting the value proposition both internally and externally to customers within the Nutritional Beverage & Long-Life Dairy category.

The responsibility as Process Category Director is to develop, select and drive the process solutions and their features and benefits to drastically impact the delivery of Systems sales through the SPX FLOW Commercial teams, as measured against volume and margin expectations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the necessary technical marketing material required for supporting the sales efforts in this category. Additionally, they will lead the development of the global strategic marketing plans for the Nutritional Beverage & Long-Life Dairy category, aligned by region, forecast the process application evolutions and innovations and the impact on SPX FLOW technologies portfolio in close collaboration with Product Management and Global Design teams.

Success in this role requires a comprehensive understanding of market conditions, competitive offerings, and customer needs. The person in this role will create and lead with a culture of strong leadership, innovation, talent and disciplined practices and processes. This leader will also develop and maintain a sustained and long-term continuous improvement and efficient organization that consistently produces improved results while motivating and retaining employees with high performance standards.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the Industry sector expert and as the “go-to” resource in the company who understands all aspects of their assigned customer process.
  • Knows the global customers who produce products using the process, all aspects for how the process works, and are aware of the future direction for the process.
  • Understands how SPX FLOW Systems technologies and components fit within the process and SPX FLOW differentiated solutions.
  • Knows the players who offer competitive solutions, their features and benefits.
  • Support regional end market sales plan by category and aligned with regional goals and capabilities; supports order of cost bid creation in partnership with Proposals organization.
  • Educates global sales team and channels; develop sales materials for the process.
  • Tracks global sales performance for a category and supports regional corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborates with Systems technology growth teams; market feedback, price, new tech, etc.
  • Leads product samples needs for customers’ presentations and meetings in close collaboration with Innovation Centers.
  • Leads market development of category specific Aftermarket solutions.
  • Identifies, quantifies and drives significant growth in existing traditional markets, as well as within identified emerging markets.
  • Provide market-based input to guide R&D strategy and technology investment requirements along with Product Management. Align guidance and direction to drive innovation processes.
  • Identify gaps in technology offerings, supply market data, and provide the voice of the customer to the Product Management and Market Development organization to ensure that technology development programs are aligned to the needs of our customers and markets.
  • Establish personal goal setting and performance management for process category managers and ensure that in-turn they are driving this process through their respective teams.
  • Drive high performance including celebrating and rewarding successes and addressing under performance in a timely manner.
  • Leverage partnerships and build a network of effective relationships both internally and externally with business leaders and key customers.
  • Responsible for attracting, developing, retaining and rewarding talent across the organization to ensure bench strength and succession and hold leaders accountable for doing the same throughout the function.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Technical aptitude and strong technical and commercial knowledge of assigned process category.
  • Alignment to the strategic goals of the corporation and management KPI’s within the F&B end market.
  • Customer focus orientation, including the ability to respond appropriately to common inquiries or complaints.
  • Strong analytical skills – able to assist in identifying and providing solutions to complex operational and financial issues as they impact the project management function. Able to create clear action plans.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with ambiguity in situations where only limited or conflicting data exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Additional relevant language(s) preferred.
  • Ability to work across a matrix organization to ensure lines of communications for the function are open, and ties into the rest of the organization functionally and regionally.
  • Out-of-box thinker, decisive and able to make quick, yet calculated, decisions; experienced in and capable of leading change.
  • Attention to detail, flexibility, and ability to collaborate with others through appropriate influencing and negotiation strategies, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Broad organizational business acumen, emotional intelligence, executive disposition and a strong bias for results.

  • Able to engage diplomatically with excellent verbal and written communication, as well as platform presentation skills with a variety of audiences across all levels of the organization and externally.
  • Exhibits a strong ability to handle complexity, multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Food Technology.
  • 15+ years of experience with B to B marketing, sales of industrial products and solutions.
  • Persuasion and transversal collaboration skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret relevant business trends.
  • Fluent in English and experience in an international organization.
  • Knowledge of key markets in the food and beverage industry
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel approximately 30-40 percent of the time, including international travel
