Main duties and responsibilities:

Agronomy:

• Manage Cuttings / seedling production activities and ensure good quality production both with internal and external propagators
• Forecast, Plan and coordinate the seedling production between propagators and farmers for the planting yearly programs
• Develop a production forecast model with all farmers in order to coordinate, manage and monitor the production activities from planting to harvesting and delivery to factory
• Develop the Stevia leaf supply chain in China by developing stronger relationships with growers and propagators in China, increasing the proportion of leaf used by SGF to be from higher yielding and quality  in order to reduce the reliance on spot purchases form the market
• Develop “good agricultural practices” manual for all grower groups in order to drive farmers on quality and yield.
• Manage and drive all the expansion of planting and production of Stevia in China
• Manage , coordinate and monitor all operational Stevia varieties trial for  SGF breeding development program with all internal SGF nurseries
• Implement commercial trials of SGF Stevia varieties across China with selected propagators and out grower 5 stars program.
• Identify and Secure relationships with the 5 star growers in China
• Prepare monthly report and reconciliation versus budget /plan.
• Ensure that the SGF China leaf KPI’s are met.

Mechanization:

• Ensure implementation of improved mechanization technics and technology with all large scale farmers
• Particular focus with planting , mulch and drip, chemical and fertilizer application , harvesting and drying

Sustainability:

• Set up and introduce with all farmers a comprehensive leaf production sustainability criteria guideline in line with the SGF overall sustainability principle.
• Monitor all above leaf development, word on regular training and monitoring of farmers on progress and gap analysis versus the expected sustainability criteria set up .

Position development on mid term: 

• Recruit a technical support team to support the 5* growers with technical advice to:
• Develop and implement growing best practices and mechanization (drying and harvesting) 
• Implement traceability and sustainability practices over the years
• Develop KPI’s to ensure productivity and returns vs competitive crops
• Develop and Ensure the maintenance of a robust seedling supply network

Requirements of the individual:

• In depth knowledge of agriculture (horticultural skills preferred) , with good understanding of  China agricultural farming environment and structure
• Knowledge of  stevia industry and stevia growing requirements could be a plus
• Experience in managing and implementing new crop with large scale farmers
• Good agricultural technical commercial acumen
• Knowledge in environmental management and agricultural best practices
• Good understanding of nursery, plant breeding and variety tests
• Ability to manage across different cultures
• Extensive travel within China
• Excellent judgement and ability to set and communicate priorities
• Report writing and strong communication skills
• Good excel practices and analytical skills
• Entrepreneurial mindset and results oriented
• High sense of integrity and personal ethical standard
• Bilingual Chinese/ English is a must
