GENERAL SUMMARY
Regionally based technical sales managers are the bridge between the end market and product management, they serve the function of providing technical support within the region, understanding market and customer drivers and facilitating action through product management to deliver regional financial and strategic objectives for their focus product portfolio.
Technical sales managers work with the regional commercial organization to provide the necessary support to channel partners and front line sales. The function covers new equipment sales as well as trouble shooting and aftermarket support. Commercial strategies are clearly aligned with regional objectives and global product management.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
? Provide technical sales and process application support for quotations and new equipment opportunities, enabling front line sales and distributors to submit technically proficient solutions at market competitive pricing.
? Actively involved in sales activity including customer visits, product presentations, technical clarification and negotiations with the commercial team or channel partners.
? Build brand awareness and loyalty though continuous training, development and marketing efforts for commercial teams and channel partners.
? Understand the regional market and competitor environment and provide each country strategic direction on target markets & applications. Communicate key market drivers to global product management and drive product development initiatives to meet market requirements.
Maintain focus on financial objectives and the necessary actions to meet order commitments. Engage in countermeasure activities to bring teams back on target when targets are not being achieved.
? Provide after sales technical and problem solving support (performance, warranty, etc.), for new and existing equipment to channel partners end customers, sales, service, engineering and manufacturing teams.
? Implement product and market initiatives working closely with Global Product Manager(s), supply chain, manufacturing and SPX Sales teams.
? Plan daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules, prepare required reports, write correspondence, make appropriate telephone calls and file paperwork.
SKILLS
? Require detailed product knowledge to converse intelligently with customers. Ability to represent the company and the product lines in a confident manner in order to maintain and increase sales volume.
? Excellent presentation and report writing skills to accurately document issues.
? Able to spend approximately 30-50% of time traveling away from home.
? Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering, plus at least five years related technical sales / application experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
