Job Description:
Help China Tax management to manage the day to day VAT and Business Tax compliance and advisory including advising and supporting business, tax return filing, managing processes, external and internal reporting for all entities in China.
Responsible for designing, setting up and improving the processes/procedures of indirect tax by working with related functions including AP/HQ Tax, Accounting, business unites and other supporting functions.
Lead to manage tax assessments and tax audits by interfacing with both external tax authorities, government agencies as well as IBM internal functions
Lead to track China Indirect tax legislation changes such as VAT reform and optimize the "above the line taxes" and update line of business and other supporting functions on the applicable VAT and Business Tax regulatory changes that may impact business and internal processes
Lead to work with Accounting on reconciliation between tax return and ledger to ensure accuracy of tax returns and financial book
Provide practical advice to line of business and AP/Corporate on financial and indirect tax operational issues, which include but not limit to local sales, cross border transactions, M&A and divestitures.
Help China Tax management in managing tax incentives and ensure fulfillment of incentive conditions
Help China Tax management in risk management
Help China Tax management to ensure China is Indirect Tax SOX compliant
Work with AP/CHQ Indirect Tax vertical on AP/CHQ initiatives and reporting requirements
Required Skills:
A minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience in tax environment (both Indirect and Income Tax but more indirect tax experience is a plus) including substantial experience with a Big Four Firm or reputable MNC; US MNC would be a plus.
MBA, or Law Degree, or CPA certificate or equivalent.
Strong China indirect tax compliance and advisory experience including experience in managing VAT and Business Tax compliance for multiple entities would be preferred.
Able to translate technical decisions /strategies into business terms and implications.
Skills on financial system and process is a plus
Must be able to prioritize, multi-task, and take ownership of the projects.
Ability to drive to achieve
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong leadership and people management skills
