As a R&D Team Manager, you will be part of the Industrial Automation Division and Measurement & Analytics Business Unit (BU) based in HangZhou. ABB is the World leader in Industrial Automation (IA) division delivers integrated solutions for control, plant optimization, and industry-specific application knowledge and services to help process industry customers worldwide to meet their critical business needs in the areas of operational profitability, capital productivity, risk management and global responsibility. These industries include oil and gas, power, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper, metals, cement, minerals, marine and turbocharging.

As an R&D Team Manager, you will be responsible support technology center manager in managing IAMA R&D firmware resources in China, ensuring appropriate firmware and product competencies are developed in the Technology Center China, assigning firmware resources to projects and ensuring proper project execution.

Your Tasks as a R&D Team Manager will include the following:

1. Organization & people development:
a) Responsible for local resources for R&D projects.
b) Responsible for staffing projects with competent people, making sure that the workload of the overall team fits the assigned projects. Ensures appropriate hardware or firmware and product competencies are developed and acquired within the team to support development of future products and systems.
c) Is responsible for the recruiting of resources.
2. Technology and competency direction: Serve as senior technical resource in the Technology Center. Defines in close cooperation with the Technology Centre Manager for a long-term competency development strategy for the team.
3. Project staffing and execution:
a) Assign capable resources to projects and work packages to be executed in the Technology Centre.
b) Ensure timely and on-budget execution of projects and work packages, monitors progress and takes corrective actions if necessary.
4. RD Management Team: RD team leaders are members of the RD management team, in order to ensure proper coordination of R&D and other functions in the Hub.
5. Processes and tools: Ensure that product development processes and tools are adopted in the Technology Center. Propose improvement processes in R&D to the Technology Centre Manager. Take necessary actions to manage risk with IP procedures.
6. Innovation & creativity: Ensure and foster own organization and employees to gain the ability to challenge status quo in technical issues, projects and processes, and translates this into dedicated actions.

1. In-depth knowledge and experience in the main technology areas of firmware and in product technologies.
2. Advanced knowledge of technical requirements for instrumentation and automation business.
3. People management and technology management skills.
4. Intercultural communication skills.
