TEAM CHARTER:

inVentiv health and Nordion are currently seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to develop peer-type relationships with the scientific/clinical research community. The MSL will use evidence-based medicine principles to accurately and fairly communicate Nordion product data within a context of how a diverse set of medical disciplines view the clinical landscape (interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, medical oncology, hepatology, and surgery). Frequent travel is an important requirement of the role; including regularly within China and across the region, semi-regularly to congresses internationally, and occasionally to the customer's global head office in Canada.

This position will be a part of the Global Medical Affairs organization and will report to the Vice President, Medical Affairs.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Successful execution of the MSL plan of action.
Thorough understanding of relevant therapeutic areas (focus on liver cancer and colorectal cancer, interventional radiology, and nuclear medicine).
Thorough understanding of Nordion products (focus on TheraSphere).
Interact and partner with health care clinical decision makers to communicate and advance the Nordion scientific platform.
Collect and advocate internally for research proposals (investigator-initiated studies [IISs]) generated by the medical community.
Track progress of IISs during subject accrual.
Collect insight from the medical community regarding how Nordion may improve its medical engagement and research strategies and feed this into head-office Medical Affairs or cross-functional brand team.
Communicate data externally in a fair and balanced manner and ensure that the medical community who may communicate Nordion product data understand associated benefits and risks.
Train on and maintain compliance on standards of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
Understand the research capabilities of sites within territory and support Clinical Affairs' evaluation of sites to participate in Nordion-sponsored studies.
Support ongoing engagement with investigators/key clinical sites to ensure successful subject accrual into Nordion-sponsored studies.
Understand and contribute to Nordion product publication plans.
Collect information on rapidly changing external environment and ethically gather competitive intelligence.
Support other functions in their objectives when it is important to leverage Medical Affairs' capabilities.
Respond to unsolicited off-label questions in the spirit of communicating available data in a fair balanced manner to assist the medical community make informed decisions in the spirit of optimizing patient care.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Core Qualifications:

Advanced degree in health sciences (PhD, PharmD, MD)
3-5+ years of relevant clinical, scientific, or Medical Affairs (in-house or field-based) industry experience
Exceptional communication (written, verbal, and non-verbal) and negotiation skills
Experience working with a team of people with diverse functional expertise
Solid organization and project management skills with an entrepreneurial mindset
Proficiency with MS Office software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
Good understanding of commonly-used statistical concepts in clinical medicine

Preferred Qualifications:

Therapeutic area experience within interventional radiology and/or oncology
Multilingual
Proficiency with MS Office software (Access, Project)
Experience with Customer Relationship Management tools
