Summary: The U.S. Mission in Beijing is seeking an eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Chauffeur.
The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Supervisory Position: No
Duties: The Chauffeur acts as a driver for the Executive Office as well as for high level VIP visitors. When not required for duty in the EXEC Office, may serve as backup Motor Pool driver (such as when the Ambassador or DCM is away from post). Reports directly to Motor Pool Deputy Supervisor but may receive daily work guidance/assignments from the Executive Office OMS team or from the Ambassador’s spouse.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Education: Completion of secondary school is required.
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Two years of working experience as a professional driver in Beijing is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Excellent knowledge of Beijing roads and traffic patterns and current traffic regulations is required. Knowledge of Embassy establishments and residences is required. Must know Post’s safety and Motor Pool policy. Basic knowledge of automotive mechanics is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Level II (limited knowledge) speaking/reading/writing in English is required. (This will be tested)
Level III (Good Working Knowledge) reading/speaking/writing in Mandarin is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have a valid A1 license for the vehicle to be operated (this is highest Chinese professional driver’s license – for heavy goods trucks and large passenger buses). Must have basic automobile maintenance skills. Must have defensive driving techniques. Ability to interact appropriately and professionally with senior VIPs from the United States, senior Chinese government officials, as well as low level security personnel is required.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
