The American Chamber of Commerce in the People’s Republic of China is a non-profit, non-governmental organization whose membership comprises more than 3,800 individuals and over 800 companies operating across China. The Chamber’s nationwide mission is to help American companies succeed in China through advocacy, access, relationship and business support services. AmCham China is the only officially recognized chamber of commerce representing American business in mainland China. With offices in Beijing, Tianjin, Dalian, Shenyang and Wuhan, AmCham China has more than 60 working groups, and holds more than 300 events per year.
We are currently seeking qualified candidates with the passion, capabilities and experience to contribute to AmCham China’s growth and services to our member companies.
Job Title: Business Development Manager
Reports to: Membership Director
Job Purpose:
The Business Development Manager promotes AmCham China’s full suite of value and services to large corporate members and new prospects. Coordinates closely with other AmCham China leaders to offer members AmCham value including annual membership, sponsorship opportunities, training programs, visa services and other value added services.
Working location and time
Beijing, 9:00-17:30, Monday- Friday
Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Development and Sales
1. Manage a sales funnel (pipeline) for sponsorship, training, visa and other services
2. Prospect for new members in coordination with Membership Director and President
3. Identify and close sponsorship for large signature events held throughout the year
4. Cultivate trusted relationships with executives of new/current member companies
5. Understand the needs, priorities and budgets for targeted large corporate members
6. Propose AmCham offerings based on understanding of member needs and priorities
7. Effectively communicate value of AmCham services to new and current members
8. Facilitate meetings with member decision-makers and AmCham leadership
9. Provide feedback from members to AmCham leadership in a timely manner
10. Develop creative solutions to suit and overcome member budget constraints
Strategy and Planning
11. Create revenue strategies and plans in coordination with AmCham leadership
12. Develop strategies and account plans for targeted groups of member companies
13. Attend industry events and conferences to prospect and identify market trends
14. Consult with senior management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products and distribution channels
15. Identify opportunities for campaigns and channels that lead to an increase in sales
16. Use knowledge of market and competitors to fine tune AmCham service offerings
Key Requirements:
1. Minimum of 5 years sales and marketing experience focused on large corporations
2. Experience in account planning, targeting prospects and sales management
3. Proven ability to propose, overcome opposition and sell range of services
4. Extroverted, natural networker, trustworthy and highly personable
5. Well organized, self-starter with ability to set and meet goals
6. Ability to work independently
7. Fluency in English required, strong Mandarin Chinese highly preferred
8. Working experience in an international office setting
9. Strong team player
10. Bachelor or above
