Description
The role of MP CMD Range Lead drives the development and execution of a specific Colour and Materials Design approach for a range of products within the MP Nokia Portfolio. The role ensures that we continue to build on our Physical brand character as well as push the integration of innovation areas in order for us to stay ahead. The approach ensures continued development and successful execution of the CMD Strategy from concepting level into compelling and finalised CMD product solutions and narratives that strengthen the portfolio and product propositions.
The MP CMD Range Lead will
- Develop a rich insight and understanding of our key markets and consumers, competitive environment, and reflect this knowledge in all proposed CMD solutions to strengthen each proposition.
- Drive creative visualization to help communicate and translate the intent. Instill credibility and support for CMD internally and externally to Nokia through a high level of articulation and inspiring credible CMD illustration. This will require close collaboration within the specific Range Design team and other CMD teams including CMD Forward, partnering with other Range Leads in ID and CMD and other key roles across Design. You will drive and lead projects together.
- Work in collaboration with the Nokia Gear team to ensure the CMD approach can transition into the wider product ecosystem, ensuring palette quality and coherencey.
- Collaborate, partner and integrate with Nokia Design's external partners - Concepting Programmes, Mechanical Architectures, Material Engineers, Visual Mechanics, Visual Quality, Global Sourcing and Suppliers, including model makers to ensure the work is prototyped and delivered to the highest quality.
- Partner with program mgnt teams and support programme teams through close collaboration; from programme Kick offs with all relevant verification status and CMD presentations through to product ramp ups. Proactively engages with Product Marketing to ensure clear understanding of product solutions, portfolio narratives and direction.

Qualifications
Essential Skills and Competencies
Strong understanding of Visual Mechanics, Materials Technology and Manufacturing Processes currently used in the consumer electronics industry.
Recognised professional with strong understanding and passion in Design and Design Processes.
Ability to understand, translate and drive design vision and concept into materials, technology and colour solutions.
Proven ability to innovate, utilize and challenge existing materials and technologies / manufacturing processes to achieve the design visions.
Recognised passion for innovation.
Believes in teamwork - inspires and acts as a source of CMD expertise to others, has high collegial interaction.
Proven ability to manage design projects, and lead and guide others in a multidisciplinary team environment. Proven ability to create inspiring documentation; convey the design solution by way of story telling with image collages, sketches, renderings and 3D models.
Experience / Portfolio
Individual Designer Portfolio, with a minumum of 6 years overall professional experience
BA/MA degree in industrial design or related field of design
Track record of relevant experience in design field from global and international business environment
Track record of relevant experience in design field from consumer electronics industry, from concepting to delivery
Team leadership experience / Design project leadership experience with internal and external partners
Moderate degree of supervision and coaching needed.
