Role Summary/Purpose

The position of a Senior Firmware Engineer’s primary is responsible for embedded software design based on microcontroller, PPC, DSPs with RTOS. It blends the hardware knowledge of an electrical engineer and the programming of a software engineer.

Essential Responsibilities

• Engaging in all phases of new product introduction: concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support • Work closely with systems teams in requirements gathering and design • Designing new products and supporting Installed Base • Interacting with global teams to promote consistency and maximize synergies across common platforms • Designing and building strong simulation and testing infrastructure to minimize dependency on hardware availability • Leveraging design for reliability and software development methodologies to drive reliability upstream into the product development life cycle

Qualifications/Requirements

1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automation or related field2. 5+ year experience in Embedded software development3. Experience in embedded system design with PPC, Arm, DSP or other 32/16/8 bit MCU4. Experience in firmware coding with C/C++, RTOS experience of Vxworks, eCOS, QNX or RT linux 5. Experience in industrial interfaces, such as CAN, Ethernet communication, etc.6. Working knowledge in configuration management tools such as ClearCase7. Experience & knowledge in Control, data acquisition and process, peripheral device management, etc 8. Software development cycle and automated testing experience9. Good Communications in written and spoken English10. Team player, self-motivated, embrace global culture

Desired Characteristics

1. Masters Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automation or related field2. Knowledge of digital and analog circuit design3. Knowledge of FPGA designs with VHDL would be a plus4. Sense in product life cycle, reliability, serviceability and manufacturability 5. Experience in platform and application development 6. Knowledge of global regulatory: EMC/EMI, CCC, UL, RoHS, etc…7. Working knowledge of LEAN processing
