The British Council China is looking to hire a Senior Data Scientist .

You can base in either in Beijing, Shanghai offices

Main accountabilities:

1. Overall manage the data management strategy, policy and project together with GIS (Global Information Service) for China Exams operations.

2. Lead on the machine learning projects to improve Exams Service nationally, e.g. NLP for language assessment, Demand forecast modelling and training.

3. Lead on the engagement with technical partners and business partners.

4. Provide professional consultancy to projects or operations in order to improve the business insights in exams operations.

5. Establish the machine learning and data analysis capability in BC including team, skills, platform and process etc. 6. Communicate with internal/external stakeholders and AI consultants to understand requirements. Analyse and translate business requirements into technical specifications, responsible for the AI solution architecture design of building analytical APIs and models. Lead on the development of information security solutions for business changes 7. Be the critical contract point with Global IT teams and Exams Change projects from data analysis and data management point of view

Job Requirements

To be qualified for the role, you will need to have:

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

2. Certifications in Machine learning

3. Minimum 2 year’s project and team management experience with solid technical background

4. Minimum 5 year’s research/development experiences in AI technologies such as data/text mining, machine learning, deep leaning and/or natural language processing.

5. Familiar with Python/R/C#/ Java and databases

6. Familiar with AI libraries and AI training platforms: e.g. Tensorflow, Deepmind,

7. Knowledge in micro-services, Kubernetes and Big Data frameworks (such as Hadoop, Spark, or Solr/ES) is preferred.

The British Council has had a presence in China since 1943, and since 1979 we have been operating as the Culture and Education Section of the British Embassy and Consulate-Generals in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing.
