Summary: The U.S. Mission in Beijing is seeking an eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Plumber.
Work schedule: Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time after receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Supervisory Position: No
Duties:
The Plumber serves as the Embassy Mechanical Foreman, under the direction of the Lead Maintenance Technician. The Plumber is responsible for coordinating and supervising the work of employees engaged in the general electrical trades’ maintenance, repair, minor construction, and upkeep of the Embassy compound. The Plumber directly supervises 2 Lead Plumber Technicians and indirectly supervises 4 Plumbers. May drive US Government owned vehicles to perform maintenance duty.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Education: Completion of secondary school and vocational training or apprenticeship recognized as producing a journeyman plumber is required. In addition, welding and plumbing certificate is required.
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years of progressively responsible work experience in the construction or the operations and maintenance of building services in large modern commercial or government buildings is required. Experience in maintaining building systems with equipment for water treatment, domestic water, and sanitary system is required. Among those three years, minimum of one year of supervisory experience is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have full journeyman knowledge of established practices and procedure of the plumbing trade. Must have a general knowledge of other trade work.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Level II (Limited Knowledge) reading/writing/speaking English is required. (This will be tested).
Level III (Good Working Knowledge) reading/writing/speaking Chinese is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to utilize electrician tools, meters and associated equipment utilized in the Heating Ventilation Air conditioning (HVAC) field. Must be cognizant of post security requirements land mechanical operation and safety precautions of such equipment. Must have Local Driver’s License C1 Permit.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
