Role Summary/Purpose

The Systems/Process Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership in the development of fully integrated extended scope / turnkey power plant solutions across multiple GE product lines.

Essential Responsibilities

-Provide technical leadership for the design/integration of GE Combined-Cycle (CC) power plant systems solutions including the CHP supporting Tri-gen/Quad-gen pilots -Define project scope content, prepare equipment & system configurations, define and issue functional requirements for plant equipment and prepare overall plant controls philosophy. -Provide system engineering leadership and coordinate support to all the engineering and project management organizations involved (Customer, GE internal organizations, Consortium Partners, Architect Engineering, etc.). -Technical ownership to ensure that project/opportunity operational guarantees are met (i.e. output, efficiency, emissions, acoustics, startup times, etc.). -Participate in all facets of assigned project such as: bid support, requisition support, operational requirements, vendor equipment evaluations, plant test philosophy development (for guarantee verifications), and operational problem resolutions. -Research, develop and enhance Combined-Cycle/Power Island/ Utility Island/Water technologies/CHP/Tri-gen/Quad-gen pilots for GE product lines in the areas of performance, operability and cost optimization. -Significant engagement and leadership in initiatives: New Product Introduction, Six Sigma, Plant Innovation and Competitiveness will be expected. -Provide technical consultation to various GE, marketing and international organizations on power plants. -Support projects globally. -This position requires global travel (5-20% of year) for customer, partner and engineering meetings as well as field troubleshooting

Qualifications/Requirements

-Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Electrical, Industrial, Chemical or Thermal Engineering. -Minimum of 15 years applicable power plant system design engineering experience, or equivalent. -Minimum of 5 years detailed plant design experience. -Minimum of 5 years of experience in gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators, steam turbines, electrical distribution systems or controls. -Green Belt Certified (GE employees only)

Desired Characteristics

-MS degree in Mechanical Electrical, Industrial, Chemical or Thermal Engineering. -AERO and Heavy Duty Framed Combined Cycle Experience. -CHP, IWPP, ISCC and IGCC Experience. -Supercritical Fossil Power Experience. -Familiar with GE Power Plant Reference Designs. -GE Six Sigma Program Certified black belt & DFSS training (GE Employees Only). -Experienced in Reliability & Availability -Thermodynamic analysis skills. -Familiar with power plant control and operation. -Excellent technical, organizational & communication skills.
