Technical Support Engineer Your role

Are you prepared to take on a highly visible position within a successful data team? Do you learn best by reverse-engineering things? Do you think Data Operations is the next big problem? If yes, we are looking for an energetic individual with lots of perseverance and ideas to:

• Provide Tier1/2 support for a unique portfolio of web scraping processes powering hundreds of data products

• Debug existing applications using HTTP, Python, SQL, tSQL, and JavaScript to resolve issues that are occurring in customers’ data feeds

• Own the delivery of data and be heroic when solving data delivery problems

Your team

You’ll be working in the Data Operations team in Shanghai. We are a part of UBS Evidence Lab and work within the Global Research division of UBS. Our unique data-driven approach to investment research is revolutionizing the industry. Our team is led by visionaries and our culture is like a start-up (without all of the risk). We specialize in various analytical techniques including web harvesting, geospatial, social media, market research, and more. You can learn more about UBS Evidence Lab here.

At the heart of this capability is the ability to systematically collect, cleanse, enrich and analyze unique data about the companies that we do research on. The Data Ops team plays a critical role in this by ensuring our data is available to our research team every day. It’s a highly visible team with a very important mission.

Your experience and skills

You have:

• bachelor degree in computer science or related field

• strong, technical troubleshooting skills, perseverance, and patience.

• ability to effectively multi-task in a highly active environment

• knowledge of Web page operations and programming is nice-to-have

• knowledge of SQL and/or Non-SQL databases is an asset

• understanding of the software lifecycle and the role of software maintenance in it

• familiarity with any of the following technologies: Python, Java, Visual Studio, C#, JQuery, Web Services, JavaScript, IIS, JIRA, Windows Server, SQL Server, Soap UI, and/ or Team Foundation Server would be an asset
