Title: Sr. Product Marketing Manager
Location: China (Beijing or Shanghai)
China represents perhaps the single largest growth opportunity for Microsoft's devices business. Our Surface and Mixed Reality products have seen initial success in this market - yet by every measure we have lots of headroom before we meet our potential.
This role is for someone who wants to be our subject matter expert and drive marketing and growth initiatives for these businesses in China.
#Responsibilities
1. Be the market expert. Succeeding in China is a priority for leaders and teams in Devices Marketing and across the company. To support them, you'll need to understand local market dynamics and use those insights to inform the work they do.
1. Adapt outbound marketing. In some cases, you'll need to adapt existing campaigns, assets, and programs to support what is unique about this market. This should be done in partnership with supporting teams in Redmond and China to help them become better at supporting our business.
1. Drive growth initiatives. As much of your time will be spent in near-term execution as contemplating 3-year plans for the business. You'll identify opportunities to accelerate growth through wholly new offers, channel programs, and other marketing approaches. You'll test these initiatives, measure success, and work through others to scale them.
Characteristics
• Growth mindset. You should have a massive appetite for learning. You must have a deep-rooted curiosity in the China market, an eagerness to experiment, and the creativity to approach long-standing business problems from new directions.
• Versatile marketer. Your role will span commercial and consumer segments, as well as multiple audiences and products. You'll be involved in every type and function of outbound marketing - social, SEM/SEO, influencer, PR, channel, events, CRM, retail, advertising, etc.
• Work autonomously. You must be able to work autonomously and roll up your sleeves to solve complex problems. You need to be able to conceive of new ideas, build support, develop plans, and then follow them through to execution hand-in-hand with the China subsidiary.
• Collaboration. There are few roles in Devices Marketing where you'll have the opportunity to work across this many teams, segments, and product groups in Redmond, as well as your internal and external partners in China. Your ability to influence people will be critical to your success.
• Communication. You will frequently be involved in presentations to executives, and be looked at by the folks you work with as their China expert. This role requires being able to communicate ideas in ways people at every level in the company can understand and act on.
• Travel and time zones. Naturally, this position will require some travel between China and Redmond. China is 15-16 hours ahead, so expect regular early morning conference calls as you collaborate with your team members in the US.
