Title: Senior SDE

Team: AI framework & application – Software Technology Center, Asia

Location: Beijing



As part of this AI Infrastructure initiative, AI framework & application team focuses on organizing current efforts across Microsoft and provision a highly optimized deep learning framework and corresponding toolkits/services for both 1st and 3rd parties, to support large scale, efficient training of novel deep learning models on both public and private GPU and CPU farms. The team is embracing open source community and based on those widely used frameworks such as TensorFlow/CNTK/Caffe/PyTorch/MXNet etc. By innovative technologies we’ll develop with other teams across Microsoft, we will further strengthen the leading role of Microsoft on AI ecosystems.



Some of the major challenges are :

 > Scalability and performance, we are facing the problems with tens of billions of parameters, and hundreds of training examples. The corresponding training job can easily go beyond thousands of servers/GPUs. It’s critical to have both algorithm and system innovations to fully utilize those computation resources to have near linear speedup without sacrificing model accuracy.

 >Multi-discipline and fast learning, deep understanding of AI problems and technologies will be a MUST, as well as those system technologies to realize them. The field evolves very rapidly, with new algorithms and technologies emerge almost every day. It’s important critical to keep track of the frontier of both industry and academic to make the AI framework & application have real business impact and world leading capabilities.

 >Thinking out of the box, the field is under furious competition, it’s also critical to differentiate yourself from others to guarantee leadership and success.



We are seeking highly motivated and talented individuals at various career stages, to build this AI framework & application. You will design, develop, test and deliver quality features. You must feel comfortable operating within a fast moving research and development team. You should have great core development skills: strong passion for delivering quality products, proven track record of working in a product group, great design, coding, and debugging skills, and excellent written and oral communication. The ability to handle multiple concurrent releases and demonstrated experience driving for results in a cross-group/team project is a must.



Qualification :

 >BS/MS or PhD degree in engineering, computer science, applied mathematics or related field

 >5+ years of experience programming in C/C++, C#/Java, Python and/or other computer programming languages preferred

 >Hands-on experience in distributed system development and optimization, or machine learning systems will be great plus

 >Demonstrated skill in metrics-drive development, effort estimation and multi-tasking
