Role:

We’re defining how Microsoft brings HoloLens to commercial customers. As a founding member of the HoloLens Commercial team, you will be partnered with the HoloLens SSP & PSE. You will become the field’s first line technical expert on Microsoft HoloLens technologies forboth software and hardware. Together, the HoloLens SSP and TSP will drive the critical first wave of HoloLens adoption, sales and deployments in key enterprise segments.

The HoloLens TSP we’re looking for has significant experience in customer-facing roles, is already a deep subject matter expert in hardware and operating systems, ideally in mobile or embedded devices, and has had success in delivering line-of-business solutions that are tightly integrated into a customer’s critical operational workflows and activities. As the HoloLens TSP you will be pivotal to the growth of the business, delivering and closing key technical discussions and selling engagements that help Microsoft ramp, then scale, HoloLens in commercial scenarios.

The HoloLens TSP we’re looking for has a track record of building technical credibility quickly with everyone from software architects to IT leadership to CMOs, establishing the trusted relationships that are the foundation on which profitable opportunities for HoloLens will be built.

Show us that you’re the one by providing concise examples of your skill explaining how devices, application development, device management and 3rd party accessories come together to solve a customer’s business need across devices, line-of-business apps, security, and device management. You understand how to build and publish high quality Unity & mobile applications. You work fluidly with both technical and business leaders, and you’re ready to share examples of recent technical conversations you’ve had with customers that unblocked a win across devices and software. Our HoloLens TSP will be an inside source about what’s happening in the market. You must be able to show us at least one example where you’ve ramped up quickly and developed a nuanced understanding of industries and market segments for a new product. The successful candidate is someone who can quickly become a source of truth about where HoloLens is getting its first successes, the breadth of problems customers want to solve using VR and AR technologies, and will build a comprehensive inventory of established and emerging competitors, partners and developers. We don’t expect you to know all this about HoloLens yet (major bonus points if you do), but you must show us how you’ve done this before and outline your plan to learn our landscape quickly.

Primary Responsibilities:

Since you’ve been to the rodeo before, you know the Microsoft sales motion from memory, you quickly do the right things, the right way, collaborating across EPG, SMSP and MCS teams, and:

• You’ll remove technical sales blockers identified by your partner, the HoloLens SSP

• You’ll drive opportunities for proof-of-concepts and pilots for the highest priority, largest and most complex opportunities in close partnership with the HoloLens SSP and EPG account teams

• You’ll work side-by-side early adopter customers to capture feedback and insights to help inform the product groups plans for broad distribution

• You’ll be the field technical leader for HoloLens in both the Device & Mobility Technical and Device Seller communities within Microsoft and our key partners



Qualifications:

• Ideally you have a CS or engineering degree and what matters more is that you can code Windows UWP apps and have experience with 3D game engines. If you have an MBA, this might make you more competitive

• You have 2+ yrs. Developing and/or publishing Unity applications

• You have 2+ yrs. Developing and/or publishing mobile applications

• You’ve been technical solution selling to senior technical decision makers for at least 8 years

• You know what it takes to get a customer into proof-of-concepts, then through pilots and into production and you know how to drive successful outcomes through relationships

• The listening and storytelling skills are strong with you. You’re a demo ninja and deliver high-impact technically-focused presentations that you tune precisely for each audience

• You get going and sort stuff out quickly. Complex problems with multiple variables are no match for your approach

• You get stuff done the right way, the first time. Strong organizational skills, you communicate with self-confidence and your insightful reports are delivered on time, every time, with no drama

• You believe in collaborating transparently and collaboratively, and you live that through words and actions every day

• You are demonstrably fluent in business English as pre-requisite and your multi-language fluency is highly preferred (German, Spanish, French)

• Ideally, you have a strong technical illustration background with experience in custom shading and asset decimation

• Ideally, you also have DirectX experience

Approximate Breakdown of time on activities:

• 50-60% direct, proactive sales engagement - we will identify named customers (in partnership with EPG & Services field leaders) where you and your SSP peer will proactively engage on opportunities that specifically target HoloLens This proactive engagement will see you nurture deals and drive proof-of-concepts and pilots, as well as stay connected to the market and opportunity

• 20% Strengthening the field - working with field leaders and subsidiary partners to land the HoloLens engagement rhythm (this will be highly variable initially)

• 10-20% strategy input and field insight – share what you’ve learned during your engagements with customers and field peers to drive real change and improvement in our approaches, processes and product. There will be periods of peak activity (MYR, future product planning) but this should be a consistent flow from you to the product team throughout the year

• 10% escalation or reactive - work on specific opportunities (directly with customers and partners) on unblocking opportunities for POCs and pilots, especially where there are consumption issues
