Role Summary/Purpose

Essential Responsibilities

The Communication Systems Lead will be responsible for providing technical leadership for the strategy and product development in the area of aircraft communications including data and voice. In this role, you will: • Provide technical leadership and serve as the primary communication system architect. • Identify strategies and technologies to advance the integration and improve usability and maintenance of aircraft voice communication systems. • Provide a future vision of communication system methodologies and approaches. • Key member of the research and development team. • Provide input and guidance to the overarching technology roadmaps. • Determine areas where technology advancements are needed and recommend approaches / programs to pursue such as software defined radios and combined functionality. • Remain current in the state of the art communication methods and techniques • Execute trade studies relating to the evolution of voice communication systems. • Provide technical expertise to the business development team in support of discussions with potential customers. • Participate in industry committees relating to aircraft communication systems and methods. • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college• Minimum of 5 years technical experience in design, operation or maintenance of aircraft voice communication systems.

• High degree of Avionics product development experience• Demonstrated experience in product innovation and desire to move technology beyond the status quo.• Experience with software defined radios, beyond line of sight communication• Familiar with certification of avionics hardware• Self-motivated, driven, focused and results oriented• Strong oral and written communication skills with demonstrated customer relationship skills• Ability to provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge / skill areas needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem• Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work• Experience working on a global development team.
