Founded in 1961, Yves Saint Laurent was the first couture house to introduce the concept of luxury prêt-à-porter in a 1966 collection called ‘Rive Gauche’, synonymous with youth and freedom. This shift represented a first critical step in the modernization of fashion and revolutionized the socio-cultural landscape.
In 1999, the luxury goods division of the Kering Group acquired Yves Saint Laurent and, under the creative direction of Anthony Vaccarello since April 2016, continues to position the house at the summit of the luxury universe.
Today, Saint Laurent collections include women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, shoes, handbags, small leather goods, jewelry, scarves, ties and eyewear.
We are currently seeking a Visual Merchandising Manager who will report to the General Manager (Direct) and Visual Merchandising Director, Asia Pacific (Functional) as part of our dynamic team in China.
Your opportunity
You will be responsible for ensuring the direction of corporate objectives that the key elements of the merchandise and operations strategy are translated into exciting visual presentations on window displays and inside stores. In addition, you will supervise the development and execution of the key visual merchandising programs for all the business lines, ensuring consistency of all visual programs and adherence to individual business line strategies in stores.
How you will contribute
- Communicate with Headquarter on window display & visual merchandising directions for China.
- Develop, modify VM policy, direction, strategies and budget for China market.
- Organizing orders with local and overseas suppliers.
- Formulate & organize window display shipment to China.
- Manage the overall visual merchandising in-season process and visit stores as required to ensure consistent excellence of visual presentation standards, and consistent roll-out of all departmental visual merchandising strategies.
- Oversee the design and layout of a store or department, tradeshow displays, fashion showrooms, and any other areas where the store’s apparel and accessories and displayed, promoted, or sold.
- Manage process and relationships with key cross-functional business partners, including Merchandising, Store Planning, PR & Communications, and stores.
- Monitor and review performance of VM team, identifying individual staff performance improvement of KPIs and career development.
- Provide on-the-job training and coaching to ensure VM team is able to meet and exceed the requirements of their roles.
- Other related & ad-hoc tasks and projects assigned by management.
Who you are
- Education background: Bachelor degree in design or art.
- Min. 10 years of direct experience in visual merchandising among which 5 years at managerial level, preferably in the luxury(fashion) retail industry.
- A strong understanding of the retail industry and ability to seek and understand trends.
- Strong sense of high-end fashion.
- Proficient in photo-shop and various graphic design software.
- Good commend of spoken & written English and Chinese.
- Strong team leadership capabilities, ability to coach, develop and manage performance of others.
- Ability to work effectively, independently as well as in a team environment.
- Attention to details, follow-up and organizational skills.
- Willing to travel frequently.
