Deputy National Examiner Manager: Learning & Development (CHI-366)

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT/TEAM

British Council Exams in China has the largest team of fulltime examiners and language assessment consultants in the world. Examiners in the main work remotely and are line managed by the Team Leader cohort. We also function as a language assessment services centre for the East Asia region and for other offices in our global network.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND WHY

In conjunction with the National Examiner Manager & Deputy Examiner Managers, the Deputy National Examiner Manager: Learning & Development provides leadership and management of the examiner team and is responsible for the design, delivery and continued improvement of the learning and development programme for China Examiners (approx. 350), as part of a wider commitment to maintaining and enhancing the British Council’s reputation as the leading language assessment authority in the region.

WHAT IS INTERESTING ABOUT IT

The role represents an excellent opportunity to join a relatively new examiner management team. You will play a key role in ensuring high standards of training and performance management in alignment with global IELTS Professional Support Network (PSN) and British Council standards with a view to enhancing a hub of excellence in examining within the team.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

To be able to qualify for this position, you will need language proficiency in English C2 (Aptis, IELTS 8 or equivalent), Chinese language skills at B1 (HSK 3 or equivalent) is preferred. You will also require BA or equivalent degree and experience as an examiner for a recognised communicative language test. It is desirable to have DELTA, Trinity Dip TESOL or equivalent ELT Diploma or Master’s Degree and recognised HR qualification or studies. You should also have proven experience and demonstrable success as a manager in a complex educational context, proven experience of managing resources to achieve business goals and targets, where delivery is through a diverse and geographically dispersed team or proven experience of effectively communicating to a wide range of stakeholders.
