Job Description

• Research and pre-development of innovative energy storage and conversion components for electrified vehicles in close and frequent collaboration with the research teams in Germany, Japan and US.

• Focus is on developing new product concept with differentiating properties and unique selling points, e.g. new technology, high performance, lower cost.

• Preparing the basis for strategic management decisions in the field of expertise; provide evaluations to steering committees at middle management level

• Provide strategical recommendation to mid management level on research directions, cooperation partner selections, etc.

• Scouting, identification, and tracking of new trends and emerging technologies in China, derive impacts on company research strategy and identify key partners.

• Generate new ideas, initiate new activities based on emerging technologies and new business opportunities in the area of your expertise.

• Educate experts in the field of expertise

• Specialty PEM fuel cell:

  • Benchmarking fuel cell technology in China and Japan.

  • Setup / maintenance fuel cell stack evaluation and innovation labs.

  • Design and assembly of fuel cell short stack in cooperation with suppliers of key materials and components in China and Japan

  • Identifying failure mechanism and cause-effect relationship of fuel cell stack and MEA

  • Improve fuel cell performance with new design or applying of new materials, components.

Qualifications

• PhD or master degree in material science, chemistry, physics or mechanical engineering, research topics in PEM fuel cell is preferred.

• More than 5 year working experience in the field of Fuel Cells, practical experience in MEA and cell stack assembly.

• Good theoretical knowledge in working mechanism of fuel cell system

• Network with main players in fuel cell academy and industry in China and/or Japan

• Chinese nationals with international education (PhD or master at foreign universities) are encouraged to apply

• Excellent communication skills, absolutely fluent in English (oral and written)

• Initiative and ability to lead research projects

• Efficient, goal-oriented, structured working style, experienced in project work

• Systematic, interconnected way of thinking

• Strong team player

• Passion for innovation; already filed patents on qualified content during PhD work is a benefit
