Financial Analyst
Burberry has been operating for 20 years in Mainland China through several franchisees. In 2007, it incorporated its Wholly-Owned FICE (Foreign Invested Commercial Enterprise) and separately developed about a dozen directly operated stores in Shanghai and other key cities. In October 2010, the Group made a strategic decision to take over the entire store network and business of the former franchisees and integrate that into the FICE to run as a distinct China-country based business unit which reports into the Asia Pacific Regional headquarters.
Today, the FICE, Burberry (Shanghai) Trading Co. Ltd., has close to 1,200 employees (mostly retail store staff), working in 65 stores in 35 cities in Mainland China with an annual net sales of over 210M. It is headquartered in Shanghai, and smaller satellite office are in Beijing, Shenzhen, Dalian and Chengdu purely to support local retail networks in regions clustered around these capital cities.
Candidate Profile
1. Reporting to the Senior FP&A Manager and based in Shanghai Office, this is a position to support financial planning and management reporting needs for the business in Mainland China.
2. Finance professional with a minimum of 4 to 8 years' experience in Budgeting, Financial Planning and Analysis for multi-national retailers; at least 3 to 5 years of which must be stable and continuous employment with one luxury retailing firm in Mainland China.
3. The candidate should possess a relevant degree in business administration, accounting or finance from a reputable institution. Candidate who has acquired China CPA with Big-4 Accounting Firm experience can also be considered as this position will grow into a role with increased responsibilities in line with our expansion.
Ways of working
4. The candidate should possess sound technical knowledge in how retail stores profitability are driven, and be able to work within finance team and across functions to ensure data, information and assumptions behind budgets are clear and reliable.
5. He or She is expected to be able to follow the Burberry values and ways of working.
Job Specification
6. This position will assist the Senior FP&A Manager for all aspects of:
a) Budgeting,
b) Forecasting,
c) 3-Year Planning and
d) monthly management reporting and ad hoc analysis
e) Group Reporting (BOSS/for month // quarter // year-ends),
f) Analysis of actuals vs. budget/forecast variances
g) Daily/Weekly Sales reporting and insights
h) Retail store KPI's
i) Inventory and Gross Margins analysis
j) Cost Centre/Operational expenses reporting and analysis
k) Capital Expenditure proposals for Store Projects // Post-Investment Appraisals, and
l) other ad hoc analysis required by management or function heads
