Summary: The U.S. Mission in Beijing is seeking one eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Plumber.


The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)


Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.


Supervisory Position: No


Duties: Under the general supervision of the Lead Plumber Technician, the Plumber performs installation, maintenance, and repair work to the plumbing systems as well as lays tile at U.S. government owned and leased properties throughout the greater Beijing area. Plumbing systems include water supply and waste drainage systems. The Plumber repairs or replaces plumbing fixtures, including water heaters, water tanks, electrical and classic floating valves, toilets, sinks, etc. The Plumber may drive USG owned vehicles.


Qualifications and Evaluations




Education:



Secondary schooling is required. Completion of vocational training or apprenticeship recognized as producing a journeyman in plumbing skills is required. In addition, welding and plumbing certificate is required.


Requirements:


EXPERIENCE: Two years of journeyman experience in the plumbing field is required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have full journeyman knowledge of established practices and procedures of the plumbing trade.


Evaluations:


LANGUAGE: Level I (Rudimentary) speaking/reading/writing English is required.


Level III (Good Working Knowledge) reading/speaking/writing Chinese is required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be knowledgeable in the proper use and selection of materials, tools and equipment associated with the plumbing trade, including the safe use and operation of pipe threading and power cutting equipment. Must be able to perform all job activities and duties in a responsible manner to avoid the creation of safety or health hazards. Must be able to conform to established safety and health policy and procedures. Must be able to properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the job activity. Must report unsafe or hazardous conditions. Must inform supervisor of all accidents, illnesses and injuries.


Must have Local Driver's License Cl Permit.


Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
