Job Overview

The Technical Project Manager supports the Integrated Field Degree (IFD) program, which offers hybrid higher education programs that combine the traditional, immersive U.S. university residential experience with technology-enabled, in-country, live-lecture learning. The Technical Project Manager is a bilingual (Mandarin Chinese and English) technical and business project manager who oversees the design and installation of high-technology classrooms, manages vendor and local university partner relationships, and implements various student services initiatives for the program. This position reports to the Director of Transnational Operations and Strategy.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical design input and manage the installation of high-technology classrooms while adhering to standards of scope, budget, and timeline
• Identify and resolve gaps in technical delivery and support of the program
• Build and implement disaster recovery process for all China sites
• Negotiate and manage local vendor agreements
• Establish and manage professional relationships with local university and corporate partners
• Support program coordinators and university partner in providing necessary student support
• Attend local conferences and networking events to represent and market the program
• Establish, track, and report on key performance indicators
• Provide feedback to optimize student experience
• Hire and train local team as necessary
• Dotted-line report and meet weekly with U.S.-based IT/engineering team
• Assist with research and acquisition of China-specific IT solutions in collaboration with CIO’s office
• Provide general IT support to Chinese users, leveraging corporate IT systems and support
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field
• 5+ years of full-time work experience in a related field such as technical project management or IT consulting
• Native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and professional proficiency in English required
• Energetic and motivated professional with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Experience working in a cross-cultural professional environment preferred
• Familiarity using a CRM system such as Salesforce.com preferred
• Experience with ITIL or other IT Service models
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and determination in getting to root cause while solving problems expeditiously
• Experience delivering professional presentations preferred
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Eligibility to work in China without sponsorship
