Define, justify, implement, and validate manufacturing processes for optical sub-components, components and modules. Specifically micro optics alignment and attach processes using semi-automated or automated equipment and active and passive alignment techniques.

Responsibilities:

• Work with a team of engineers and scientists to develop and bring to manufacturing new processes required for new products

• Perform experimental tests to validate and optimize prototype designs

• Scale-up design, and work with equipment vendors to qualify and specify equipment

• Use sound engineering practice and modeling techniques to design equipment fixtures and process

• Prepare proposals for capital expenditure

• Manage equipment installation and start-up

• Provide technical support and expertise during design, install, start-up, and preliminary production runs of new processes

• Provide technical training and expertise to operators during process implementation

• Provide technical oversight during start-ups to observe, troubleshoot, and document any process or scale-up issues

• Track process metrics and drive process improvement

• Develop manufacturing plans.

Qualifications:

• Highly skilled in using DFM, DOE, FMEA, gage R&R, and problem solving skills

• High familiarity with use of Statistical Tools and Software such as JMP

• Must have very recent experience working full time on a manufacturing line

• Demonstrated record of failure analysis, yield and cycle time improvement

• Knowledge of six-sigma, SPC and process capability, OCAP, written procedure, operator training, Kaizen or continuous improvement, lean manufacturing techniques

• Previous experiences – preferably in optical components or solar industries

• Demonstrated ability to work with and drive cross-functional groups and external partners

• Strong track-record of developing and implementing innovative solutions to complex problems in a timely manner

• Demonstrated use of project management skills

• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in a manufacturing environment

• Excellent verbal and written communication and interrelationship skills

• Knowledge and understanding of process flows

• Ability to observe and understand existing and new processes

BS/MS- M.E, Mfg Eng. I.E or perhaps E.E

7+ years total experience of manufacturing & process development engineer.
