Supplier Quality Engineer

Reports to: Manager of QEHS Department: QEHS_______________

JOB SUMMARY:

The Supplier Quality Engineer has a key position within Armstrong for developing and maintaining a high level of quality for products delivered by our supplier base. The Supplier Quality Engineer is expected to operate within a framework of procedures and specific targets in pursuit of overall department goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Lead and coordinates activities associated with the supplier quality program

2. Work with SDE to evaluate supplier (supplier audit), and set up supplier database

3. Communicate effective with suppliers regarding drawings, specifications, function and process

4. Follow and monitor the process and quality of sample making and assist supplier where possible in their submissions of conforming samples

5. Verify supplier samples and maintain approval documents according to the requirements of PPAP

6. Work closely with suppliers to ensure our quality objectives are achieved by offering solutions to process improvements

7. Work with suppliers to resolve material issues and perform root cause analysis with corrective actions when required

8. Maintain supplier quality data base

9. Work with the Armstrong global sourcing team to obtain highest quality standards for all material purchased in Asia

10. Developing and maintaining generic and specific inspection schedules and procedures, in conjunction with Engineering personnel.

11. Assess and audit corrective actions against customer complaints relative to supplier components

12. Undertake supplier audits as required.

13. Support the Supply Chain Manager to achieve reduced Goods Inward Inspection

14. Carry out goods receiving and production inspections

15. NCN statistic list fill in and follow up with corrective and preventive actions

16. Travel to supplier locations – overnight on occasion, to conduct inspections

17. Gauges calibration and statistic list update

18. Compile Supplier Monthly Quality Report

19. Other works assigned by QEHS manager

EDUCATION:

1. Junior college or above, majored in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering preferred

2. Three years experience in Manufacturing Engineering

3. Three years experience in quality management with ISO9001, TS16949, 5S, 7 QC tolls and 8D

4. Must be computer literate, with a sound knowledge of Word and Excel a pre-requisite.

5. Be able to read complex non machined product and machined product drawings

6. Know and use Auto CAD and Solid Works

7. Be familiar with Quality Inspection Tools

8. Fluent in English, verbal, writing and reading

9. Excellent communicator, written and verbal

10. Confident when dealing with people at all levels, both internal and external to the organisation

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Makes recommendations to senior management

2. Performs various departmental assignments as required

3. Implement recommendations relating to method improvements and cycle time reductions

4. Develops and maintains records of cross-training programs

5. Provides weekly / monthly progress reports
