National Instruments is seeking a talented, experienced French Technical Translator to join the Localization organization in Shanghai, China.

Working as a Technical Translator at NI provides the opportunity to become familiar with emerging technologies and to work closely with content providers, R&D engineers at several NI sites, NI Branch offices, and language professionals in a high-tech environment.

Position Overview & Responsibilities

1.Translate NI technical content from English to French including illustrations, with high quality and with little need for review by peers
2.Occasionally perform reviews of content translated by others
3.Exhibit knowledge of translation tools and processes
4.Have knowledge of computer hardware and notions of electrical engineering
5.Be ready to evolve and adapt in a fast pace, highly technical environment
6.Work with local mentors in the Shanghai Localization team
7.Report to a Manager in the Localization Group at NI Headquarters in Austin, Texas
8.Accept some flexibility to have late evening or early morning meetings with colleagues in Austin, Texas


Position requirements

1.BA in translation or comparable French language degree or BA of any kind with at least 3 years of experience in Technical Translation
2.Native fluency level in French for your translations
3.Fluent level in English to communicate with NI staff around the world
4.Experience with technical documentation translation
5.Ability to work well with others in a multi-cultural environment.
6.Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
7.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
8.Persistence and initiative to learn
9.Initiative and resourcefulness in everyday tasks, as well as keen interest in technology in general
10.Strong interest in and comfortable with technology subject matter
11.Prior hands-on experience working with computers (hardware and/or software)
12.Ability to work effectively in a group environment
