Department Description:
Oracle is actively seeking developers to join the Oracle PeopleSoft Translation Development team. The position is based in Beijing, China.

Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise business applications are used by over 5000 large enterprises in 140 countries and available in 17 languages. This allows multinational companies to share their data across subsidiaries around the world and each location can view the data via UI translated into their preferred language. In addition, translated applications allow each branch to interact with their local partners, vendors, and customers in their own language. As more and more countries are tightly integrated into the world economy, demand for translated software is on the rise.

The PeopleSoft Translation Development team analyzes each application in order to identify translation requirements, works with Application Development to ensure application code correctly supports translation, and manages translation projects end to end in order to deliver quality translation to customers. We look for people who are detail-oriented, quality-focused, technically sound, and able to communicate with a wide variety of audience ranging from application developers, DBAs, customer support engineers, to translators under time pressure. The work environment is process oriented, collaborative, and results focused. The team primarily operates out of Pleasanton (USA), Montreal (Canada), and Beijing (China).
 
Specific Responsibilities:
--Review and manage all open incidents (application bugs) for translatability for assigned product lines
--Resolve all translation incidents by providing technical expertise to the impacted translation teams and project managing the resolution process. This requires coordinating work efforts by multiple teams.
--Analyze and prepare incidents for translation using predefined process and procedures. Resolve any issues encounted during this process.
--Package translated fixes using PeopleSoft standard packaging processes for posting to Oracle’s customer web site.
--Install test all packaged fixes.
--Manage database rotation from master to backup based upon standard Development build cycle.
--Answer questions from in-country translation offices concerning incidents and applications.
--Resolve all technical issues that occur during the translation cycle.
--Interact with Development to resolve translatability issues
--Support the creation of maintenance packs (quarterly roll-up of all posted fixes)
--Test new PeopleTools releases in order to ensure multilingual functionality is correctly implemented.


Requirements:
--Strong project management skills (no direct reports)
--Strong background in Object Oriented Programming techniques
--Solid RDBMS knowledge
--Strong SQL skills
--SQR coding skill is a strong plus
--PeopleTools knowledge is a strong plus
--Highly detail-oriented and organized
--Quality orientation
--Self motivated and a self starter
--Very strong communication skills with multicultural audience
--Fluent in English (Speaking/Reading/Writing)
--Ability to meet tight deadlines
--Ability to work independently
--Ability to work overtime
--Understanding of the translation process is a plus
--Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields
？ 1+ years (preferably 2-3 years) of previous software engineering or related experience.

Each individual on the team is responsible for several product lines. For the assigned product lines, analyze the master DB to identify application fixes that require translation. Set up the environment so that translation teams can access it without issues. Resolve any environment issues that arise during the preparation process. During the translation process, provide technical support to the translation teams, interacting with Application Development to resolve any application issues. Ensure all translation is completed on time. Perform QA tasks on completed translations and package translated fixes using PeopleSoft standard packaging processes for posting to Oracle’s customer web site. Install test all packaged fixes.
