Education:
Masters degree in Food Science required, with PhD preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 7-10 years of research and development experience in foodservice industry, specializing in the bakery product category.
Skill:
·Proven ability as a both a technical leader and business manager, with ability to deliver overall business results from an integrated base of financial, technical, operational and market-based knowledge and expertise.
·Multi-disciplinary experience needed in customer / supplier relationships, quality assurance, and overall business acumen.
·Proven ability to construct and manage all aspects of product development projects.
·Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes.Ability to quickly learn and master new technologies.
·Must exhibit strong analytical/problem solving skills, and use sound judgment when resolving issues.
·Travel required.
Responsibilities:
Functional R&D Leadership
·Develop and broaden team technical expertise in core product areas, including pastry, dough, filling materials, manufacturing processes and packaging.
·Develop and execute strategic and tactical level business plans
·Willingly collaborates on projects with R&D team members to draw out best thinking for generating innovative project solutions.
·Develop and enhance customer relationships, serving as a primary point of customer contact.
Product Development
·Work collaboratively with Sales team to identify and develop strategic opportunities based on data from a variety of sources, including consumer insights, customer direction and company processing capabilities.
·Support commercialization process, providing sensory data, ingredient and operational process expertise, as well as team member education to assure operational quality.
·Lead and develop a disciplined approach for all testing activities (both benchtop and in plant) assuring thorough documentation and shared knowledge across the R&D team.
·Strives to balance customer needs with Bama’s desire to apply resources efficiently and effectively.
·Collaboratively works to develop strong relationships with both customers and suppliers.
Product Improvement
·Identify and drive margin and quality improvements on existing products.
Optimizes new product formulations with the fewest possible number of ingredients and lowest cost ingredients to meet desired attributes.
