Job Description:
The Field Applications Engineer will work in a dynamic matrix and virtual global work environment and be responsible for sales and customer support for mechanical components used in electronic goods. The candidate will work closely with manufacturing, design engineering, quality engineering, and various factory personnel in Asia and the US to ensure customer designs achieve the required quality and product performance. This person will also assist in providing best-known-methods for manufacturing process and quality inspection. Our customers are top leaders in their markets and are constantly pushing the limits and conventional wisdom of high-tech products. As such we require candidates who think innovatively, quickly, and have a can-do attitude. Long term, this person will have a direct impact on strategy and vision by becoming our internal "voice of the customer" as we consider future technology and expansion plans for major OEM & Distribution accounts.

Essential Job Duties:
Work with customers to identify and document the best fastening (Riveting and installation equipment) and other SEF mechanical system solutions in applications such as Computer Chassis, Network equipment, Auto-Electronics and other electronic and industrial products.
Provide guidance, conduct technical reviews and training with Distribution on customer applications and SEF product. Identify the best mechanical component (and installation equipment where applicable) solution for specific applications and support as required in partnership with Distribution.
Work with the Distribution partners, senior management team to design, implement and execute on a plan to defend our product from further market erosion to “Clones” (SKK, SNSK etc…)
Proactively interface with the I&C distribution account leaders and the GEG global account management team leaders to drive new business development activities.
Manage quick turn Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Process Flow reviews.
Maintain salesforce.com CRM database for applications engineering projects and engineering reports.
Manage distributor partnership and OEM customer requests and lead the satisfactory completion of customer requirements at our facilities.
Prepare timely technical reports, presentations, applications notes, and white papers as required.
Flexible work schedule to accommodate local and overseas activity (on occasion require late night conference calls between U.S and China)
Travel to meetings at customer sites and distribution partners in China and where needed elsewhere in Asia.


Education and Desired Skills:
Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or similar Engineering disciplines.
Design or applications engineering experience preferred.
Knowledge and experience with mechanical components, fasteners, and related technologies preferred.
Knowledge of industrial and electronics market a plus.
Knowledge and experience of Blind Product and installation technology (hand held, semi and full automated systems) preferred.
