Director of Software Engineering – Supply Chain Management Automation, Sales and Operations Planning Automation

Who We Are?
Supply Chain Automation is responsible for predicting what customers want to buy and automating the ordering process. We create a daily demand forecast for all Coupang’s Retail SKUs, every day. We work with internal stakeholders to solve challenging Supply Chain problems at scale. Our systems ensure Coupang’s customers are delighted with consistently available products. Automation supports scale and efficiency of our Supply Chain processes.
How We Do?
We use Big Data processes to generate our daily forecast and buying decisions. Our systems are built on Hadoop and Spark, with forecasting models implemented in Python using SciPy, NumPy, etc. Our Automated Buying systems combine machine learning with human oversight. Software Engineers work with a cross-functional team of Data Scientists, Analysts and Product Owners to build world-class systems that keep our Supply Chain running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
? Hire and lead a cross-functional team of Engineers and Data Scientists to launch a green field Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) automation system
? Work directly with stakeholders in Supply Chain Operations and Retail to meet business KPIs
? Lead team to develop a large-scale inventory simulation to model inventory procurement and sales
? Build and maintain UIs for internal customers to manage automation and provide visibility
? Manage team’s Scrum process
? Work with POs and external teams to create a feasible feature and technical roadmap
? Lead team to design, build and maintain Big Data infrastructure to scale and support new use cases
? Analyze information acquired and compare solutions and weight them against the actual needs, provide root cause analysis affecting key business problems;
? Develop team ICs
Qualifications:
? 8+ years experience, including 3+ years as a software engineer and 5+ years managing teams
? Masters in Computer Science or Engineering; Ph. D. preferred
? Expertise in Python or Java
? Experience with big data ecosystem (Spark, Hive, Pig, Sqoop, Oozie)
Optional Qualifications:
? Working experience with Python ML libraries (SciKit, Pandas) a plus
? Working experience with R, Scala a plus
? Domain knowledge of Supply Chain Operations preferred
? Experience with Discrete Event Simulation a plus
? Experience with microservices a plus
? Experience with both Relational DBs and NoSQL
