RF application engineer
Job description:
RF application support is characterized by a highly service oriented customer support structure founded on a deep technical engineering based RF skillset. The RF application engineer is a key element of this service model. He or she is able to help the RF engineer, our customer, to unleash his or her RF design and bringing it to market quickly by providing firsthand the answers and the solution that our customer requires.
The RF application engineer is an RF expert with deep technical knowledge on both RF products and the systems where these products are applied to. He/she understands the challenges of designing-in high performance RF components into most demanding applications. As such he or she becomes the trusted advisor of our customer by providing all first level support, often being in at the customer him/herself.
The RF application engineer keeps track of the requirements of the RF products for the different projects running at the customers and actively maintains the link between the business line and the customer. He makes sure deliverable to and from the customer meet the expectations and are delivered in time. The RF application engineer is the technical facing interface to the customer and as such bears a significant responsibility towards the customer and the organization. He or she can solve customer questions directly based on multiple years of experience in RF and systems.
The RF application engineer deepens the organizations RF knowledge and provides valuable information into the NXP product roadmap based on customer feedback to our products and competitive benchmarking.
Key areas of responsibility:
1. Maintain technical knowledge of mobile RF and exploit knowledge in application
a. RF System level knowledge of WLAN, LTE and GPS systems.
b. RF knowledge of LNA, PA and switch.
c. Keep track of market and NXP position by competitive benchmarking and collecting customer inputs.
2. Provide technical support to customers (both on-site and from NXP site) to ensure the design-win
a. PCB design & simulation: reviewing designs & simulation results, suggest improvements backed up by own results.
b. Debugging: help customer in debugging applications to come to reference performance. Set-up and execute experiments and to come to conclusions on improvements.
c. Acts as an interface between business line and customer on detailed technical matters where R&D expertise is required.
3. Manage design-in & process and technical customer relationship
a. Keep track of design-in process of different projects at the customers and take actions to secure the design-win.
b. Follow-up on customer questions either directly or via business line.
c. Maintain technical relationship with the customer through professional interaction.
4. Alignment/team work with all stakeholders
a. Alignment on status of design-in process with BL and accounting team
b. Input to business line roadmap based on customer feedback and competitive benchmarking
Profile:
Solid knowledge and experience in mobile RF (WLAN, LTE, GPS)
Experience in customer facing engineering roles, at least 5 years of experience in similar role
Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Strong personality: Pro-active and result driven, flexible, adapts plans easily when circumstances change
Flexible for business travel
