Job title : Tooling Engineer

Position Summary:
Support activities of CAPEX, & Indirect Spend . Engage in Purchasing and Quality, with special focus on “Tooling Design and Saving “.

Scope:
? Responsible for all tooling activities including and not limited to :
o estimating cost for new programs tooling
o managing the build of production tools used for plastic injection molding and steel stamping
o Perform tooling simulation , such of MFA and AutoForm.
? Participates in a multi-disciplinary projects to achieve the customer’s needs in product and timing. Works to continually improve tooling activities by reducing costs and improving program timing.
? Analyze supplier tooling estimates and coordinate the purchase of plastic injection molds , Stamping dies and related tools / gages. Coordinate the tool build schedule for prototype and / or production tooling to meet customer’s requirements and report to the APQP team
? Support Manufacturing, Quality, Process Engineering and Tool Maintenance areas to assist in the resolution of quality, manufacturing and tooling issues

Team structure
Reports to: VP MRO, CAPEX, & Indirect Spend
Works directly with MRO & CAPEX, regional Tooling Engineers


Specific Requirements
? Educational level/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Economics. With 2 to 5 years of automotive experience. Direct experience in Tooling and related equipments such as:
o Mold Flow Analysis experience
o Stamping simulation experience
o Direct experience in CAD/CAM and CNC programming software for at least 2 years .
o Economics skills , especially oriented in Supplier chain , Costs analysis , Pyramid of costs
o Price generation.

Functional Competences and skills
? Update and maintain Inalfa physical tool data base
? Update and maintain IPD Inalfa tool data base
? Review and assess supplier quotations with particular focus on (but not limited to):
o Injection molding part Tooling and Equipments
o Stamping parts Tooling and Equipments
o Sunshade parts Tooling and Equipments
o PU and PVC Encapsulated glass panel Tooling and Equipments
o Mechanism parts Tooling and Equipments ( fine stampings and over moldings)
o Sunroof assembly lines
o On site visits for cost/quality assessment are part of the job

? Support Commodity Buyers and Cost Estimators in using and developing Cost analysis forms and Supplier Timeline templates for Tooling and Equipments for major commodities.
? Attend at the design review to enforce using documentation and help the negotiation
? To gather “ tooling saving “ documentation from the three regions , EU , US , Asia
? Analyze “ tooling saving “ documentation in comparison with defined budget
? Release and maintain tooling approval form , according SQD and Value manager directions
? Support Tooling Target cost setting .
? Support Customer Tooling and Equipment audits
? Release and maintain Supplier data base , with main focus of potential new suppliers in BCC
? Support regional VAVE Team in applying techniques to generate saving ideas directly connected with tooling saving
