About
the role
Due to significant growth we are seeking a Risk Officer to provide
support in relation to risk management. This person will be responsible for
ensuring risk management reporting procedures are implemented in accordance
with the risk management framework. This role will involve working with senior
colleagues across all departments.
Duties
and responsibilities
Responsible for identifying, evaluating, mitigating,
and monitoring the company's operational and strategic risk. Perform oversight
and monitoring of all operational risk management activities of the
organization.
Propose and drive actions to communicate, implement
and monitor risk management policies, risk appetite and risk limits; and
facilitate the use of appropriate RM methodologies, tools and techniques.
Facilitate or directly execute operational risk
analysis and assessments at Global Office. Analyze and classify risks (frequency/potential severity) and measure
financial impact of risk to the business.
Participate in developing Enterprise Risk Management
tools, practices, and policies to analyze and report enterprise risks, and to
manage risks according to an enterprise risk management framework.
Effectively collaborate with corporate planning,
finance, actuarial services, underwriting, market management, sales, operations
and legal to foster a team approach to conducting business in a highly regulated
environment.
Provide support to the company EU ‘Solvency II’
Directive programme, more specifically to ensure the ongoing delivery of pillar II
requirements.
Facilitate and coordinate the successful completion of
all annual regulatory requirements for Enterprise Risk Management (ie –
RSR/SFCR, ORSA, Risk Report, Loss event reporting etc.)
Participate in the Internal Control Program testing
and remediation process at Global Office to meet all regulatory and internal
requirements (includes operational risk controls and ICOFR controls). On selected processes, perform annual
walk-throughs, risk assessments, independent testing for Design and Operational
Effectiveness.
Skills
and experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, preferably at Honours
level, with experience ideally in an international environment or equivalent
combination of work and education experience.
MBA or Chartered Accountant, with audit/professional
services background preferred.
Risk Management accreditation or Accounting qualification
Five plus (5+) years’ experience in Finance, Risk
Management or Compliance, ideally in the insurance, financial services or
service sector industries.
Candidates with Solvency II / Basel II experience, or
proficiency with a risk specialist skill an advantage.
Detailed understanding and knowledge of best practices
and trends in risk management.
Excellent problem solving, judgment and analytical
abilities.
Have a strong professional presence, interacting
effectively with management teams.
Strong IT user skills, very good user knowledge of
Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Fluency in English
Team player, excellent interpersonal and communication
skills in a multi-cultural context.
