Reporting Line
Report to Sales VP, Greater China, South Korea and Mongolia
The Business Development Specialist will support the sales team with a particular focus on Nature journals sales:
? supporting the renewal workflows and new business generation
? by developing and qualifying a pipeline of leads via a combination of systems usage, data analysis and client calls
? coordinating with editorial and content marketing team to acquire the resources needed for sales activities
Responsibilities:
1) Act as Nature journals expert focus and support:
? Develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of Nature journals in order to support the team and recognise business potential
? Develop a deeper knowledge of legacy NPG systems and workflows to support the interim process practically (quoting and processing) and as (an office based) point of contact for LMs
? Learn and support new systems and workflows as they evolve
? Assist with reporting and tracking of activities where not provided by systems
2) Provide support on defending renewals, identifying upsell potential:
? Provide renewal/account packs: Usage stats, upsell suggestions, model suggestions
? Usage statistics review (quarterly stats review to identify low usage, work with marketing and AD to raise usage and awareness)
3) Identifying new lead opportunities: Working closely with the supporting teams, MI, Marketing, Account development.
? Build pipeline potential from leads lists
? Populate CRM with opportunity and intelligence data
? Work with marketing on warm up campaigns
? Cold call lists to qualify leads; establish contacts, potential, set up meetings, trials, etc
4) Know and Support Different business models, assist with quoting new opportunities. Assist with renewal quoting. Monitor the unit usage.
5) Additional support:
? Provide in office admin support to license managers
? Coordinate with local NRG editorial team to get resources needed for sales team
? Proactively manage agent accounts and long tail accounts, Daily sales tracking
? Visiting customers to share the submission experiences and explain the publishing workflow of Springer Nature
Job Requirements:
? Master or PHD degree from STM background, majored in Chemistry, Physics, Medicine, Life Science, Engineer, etc.
? Showed the record to have published in international journals and could present to audience about his/her research
? Have strong interest to work in STM publishing industry and know Nature journals very well
? Experience with or aptitude for analyzing business data and create new models based on the analysis
? Master use of the SAP/Sales Force system
? Strong ability to collaborate with colleagues from local or international offices and across interdepartmental departments.
? Good learning skill and strong desire to overachieve
? Outstanding communication and presentation skills
? Could travel frequently and work under pressure
? Fresh graduates is also welcomed if other criteria are met
? Strong computer skills in databases, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required
