The C&E Big Data Team engineers platforms used for information production on massive Big Data scale. Dealing in exabytes of data, and hundreds of thousands of processing cores, Microsoft operates one of the only true Big Data platforms on the planet. These capabilities are used extensively to power our own online products as well as enabling our customers to solve new and complex problems that challenge their business. Our team builds global features for Azure Data Lake, Hadoop on Azure (HDInsight), Azure Streaming Analytics and Cosmos.

The C&E China team owns complete components of the global C&E product strategy. For the past 5 years, the Big Data team in China has had a particular focus on compilers, languages, and developer tooling for complex distributed computing platforms. Our combination of global scale, local capability, and an integrated partnership with the world-class Microsoft Research Asia gives us a unique capacity to deliver truly useful services for users in this exciting market and to bring the great ideas from China to the world.



Roles & Responsibilities



We are looking for a Program Manager who is passionate about defining and building the best Big Data cloud platform in the world. We are looking for a person who is completely immersed in the world of distributed computing and is fearless in driving for hard goals and reaching un-scaled heights.



As a Program Manager you will have a key role in identifying user scenarios that drive the development of new capabilities and features in our system. You will focus on understanding customers and onboarding them to our products. Working with your development and testing counterparts you will drive rapid development cycles focused on realizing your scenarios, driving quality and gaining customer acceptance.



You must have strong core program management skills, including customer-focused innovation, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work across teams and across geographies. You must have an understanding of how search platforms are engineered with experience in systems dealing with massive data-flows. Fluency in written and oral communication in English is necessary.



Required Qualifications



•You must possess a strong computer science or mathematical background, a good grasp of software engineering principles, exceptional problem solving skills and a minimum of 6 years of experience in delivering high quality software solutions including several product shipping cycles.

•Experience with agile development and scenario-focused engineering is preferred.

•A demonstrated ability to come up to speed quickly on a new technical domain is assumed.

•Demonstrated capability to create product specifications, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team e***ironment distributed across geographical locations are very important.

•Knowledge and experience in any of the following areas is a strong plus: Programming Languages, IDEs, Compilers, Scheduling, Database Management Systems, and High Performance Computing.
