Commercial Policy Manager (for Asia Pacific region)
Reporting to: Senor Manager, Global Commercial Policy
Location: Shanghai
Job summary:
· Responsible for commercial policy development and management and support for commercial issues relating to programs, solutions and projects within assigned theater. Support for and development of consistent commercial policies aligned with our growth strategies and initiatives will be the major deliverable of this role to support the Panduit Customer Experience expectations and "ease of doing business" objectives. Complete research and analysis of complex policy issues and prepare high level guidance material for publication and reports and recommendations for senior management. Lead cross-functional Theater working groups, consulting and liaising with key stakeholders to develop localized policy. Develop and provide guidance and advice to Panduit groups on business case development.
· The Theater Commercial Policy Manager ensures that business and commercial contractual arrangements within assigned theater align with commercial policies and procedures and secure the opportunity for profitable sales realization. This position will also work closely with Finance to manage the appropriate business risk and develop and improve the professional capability of the Commercial function; Develop, support and oversight for "ease of doing business" in the commercial interface for all appropriate internal/external customers/suppliers/partners; provide identification and evaluation of commercial risk and ensuring its appropriate evaluation in a proposal for new programs and business opportunities. Incumbent will also review all material contracts and negotiate contractual documentation; provide instruction of contractual commitments and manage emerging commercial and contractual issues and resolve all major claims, disputes and litigation.
Responsibilities:
· Existing Commercial Policy Management:
(a) Evaluate effectiveness of existing policies to achieve the desired impact and behavior versus the effort to enforce for both Panduit, our partners and customers
(b) Recommend a disposition for existing policy with objective data and subjective input to support the recommendation
(c) develop a implementation plan that provides a smooth transition for the policy with minimal disruption
(d) support the execution of the policy with the business owner to the partner and/or customer.
· New Commercial Policy Development:
(a) Evaluate effectiveness of the proposed new Policy to achieve the desired impact and behavior versus the effort to enforce for both Panduit, our partners and customers
(b) Recommend a disposition for new policy with objective data and subjective input to support the recommendation
(c) develop a implementation plan that provides a smooth transition for the policy with minimal disruption
(d) support the execution of the policy with the business owner to the partner and/or customer.
· Regular (Monthly /Quarterly) reporting on Policy effectiveness through regular Audit and analysis processes that will be shared with the relevant stakeholders in Business Office, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Product Lines, etc.
· IT System changes to Support the implementation: (a) work closely with EPO teams (IT, Finance, Supply Chain, Quality) to ensure "ease of doing business" the Commercial Policy projects with necessary updates/edits/removal to the processes and systems for Sales, Marketing, Pricing and Customer Service to enable effective, efficient and agile policy enforcement
Skills, Training, Experience Required:
· BS or BA in Business or related field; Finance and/or Accounting preferred; MBA preferred. 5-8 years of relevant experience required
· Independent decision-making and negotiation required; responsible for regional commercial policy strategy
· Deep understanding of commercial strategies, financial analysis, marketing and contracting
· Have the ability to understand strategy at a global level and effectively develop and support business plans, new offerings, policies, processes and communications that facilitate creating business value at the local level.
· Understand customer/partner needs and leverage marketing and operational data to provide strategies, business insights and plans to drive continuous improvement efforts that lead to new levels of customer loyalty, operational efficiency and profitability.
· Requires strategic leadership, customer foresight, insight to anticipate impact, cross-group coordination at all levels, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build compelling business cases for change.
· Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills with demonstrated experience in analyzing and assessing complex policy issues and providing strategic commercial policy advice and recommendations.
· Strong knowledge of MS Excel and Oracle, Strong knowledge of and experience in marketing and customer segmentation. Strong financial and costing knowledge/acumen
· Excellent written and oral communication including demonstrated experience in report writing, and in writing and delivering briefings and presentations within tight timeframes. Ability to train others
· Highly developed interpersonal skills with an ability to build networks and liaise externally and effectively represent the Commercial function in negotiating appropriate policy outcomes
· Strong research and project management and organizational skills with a proven ability to display initiative and provide the required outcomes in a timely manner
