The successful candidate should present a strong analytical approach together with excellent written and communication skills in English and Chinese. In general, the candidate will be self-motivated and enthusiastic about renewable energy as a pathway towards a more sustainable future, in line with DNV GL’s core purpose. They will also be driven by technology and innovation. This role is to enhance the advanced numerical modelling capabilities and increase the resource of the Wind turbine loads analysis Section.
Duties may include:
- Performing load calculations for onshore, offshore fixed or floating wind turbines for a range of design standards using the aero-elastic software Bladed
- Analyzing and researching complex phenomena in the area of aerodynamics, structural dynamics, control response, atmospheric physics etc.
- Understanding the highly coupled nature of the wind turbine system and how the loads are linked to the structural components and mechanical systems design, as well as the overall cost of energy
- Liaising with the other technical disciplines within the Turbine Engineering Department
- Communicating with clients, both in written and oral forms- Writing reports
- Assisting with general group activities, which may include the development of internal tools such as software scripts
After development and depending on skills, future duties may include:
- Supporting Bladed development with new advanced features
- Providing training in the use of Bladed and wind turbine design processes to Customers worldwide
- Preparing proposals and manage projects
- Providing thought leadership to the wind industry in the area of wind turbine coupled analysis and generally turbine design related aspects in the form of conference papers, seminars, etc.
- Occasional travel worldwide of a short term nature (visits to Customers, trade-fairs, conferences, etc.)

Technical / Professional Expertise and Qualifications Required
Essential:
- Master’s degree in engineering, physics or mathematics field with high qualifications
- Understanding aerodynamic loads, structural dynamics and general mechanical engineering theory
- Good programming skills (Mat lab, Python, etc.)
- Proficient in MS Office programs
- Knowledge of wind turbine design standards
- Good knowledge or expertise in loads analysis, aero-elasticity and/or multi body dynamics
- Experience in Bladed
Desirable:
- Experience in the use of another aero-elastic software such as Fast, HAWC, etc.
- Master in renewable energy
- A PhD in engineering or physics, preferably in the area of structural dynamics or aero/hydro-dynamics
- Good programming skills (C++, others)
