Objective of job
Lead and represent the regional office of Northeast Asia Strategy, developing and supporting business strategies with superior value to the regional Headquarter, the Joint Venture, the shareholders and other principals. Determination of the companies short-/mid- and long-term Strategy in alignment with the respective corporate objectives of the individual divisions. Development of functional/regional strategies to strengthen Daimlers position in China. Optimization of strategic processes to increase efficiency. Analyze complex multidimensional matters and create/conceptualize new processes across functions.
Task designation
1 Business Development
- Initiate and participate in the long-term oriented strategic concepts and business strategies across regional divisions (incl. functional strategies)
- Represent strategic interests in the cross-functional meeting on the business discussions with the NEA function heads
- Anticipate future market trends and determine strategic goals & options, in particular with respect to various potential strategic alliances
- Execution of a Strategic Controlling to ensure the regions continuous competitiveness in the world’s most emerging market
- Optimisation of strategic Change Management Processes to influence performance and efficiency
2 Policies and Regulations
- Provide continuous overview of regulatory changes and analyse impacts on Daimler’s business
- Represent strategic perspectives in the WRC (Wider Regulatory Committee)
and CRC (Core Regulatory Committee) to obtain certainty about the anticipation of the government objectives
- Pursue bi-weekly updates with S/GR to make China an integrated part of the global regulatory strategy
3 Strategic Intelligence
- Initiate impulse studies to support regional divisions in their strategic concepts
- Consistently research on most recent and future market developments (trend spotting)
- Pursue PV & CV competitor Profiles (national and international)
- Represent NEA Strategy in executive conferences
4 Reporting
- Internal reporting to Senior executive Management (e.g. Chairman and CEO Daimler NEA, Vice President /Director Strategy, Alliances & Business Innovation)
- Provide China relevant aspects for various events such as:
Annual Shareholder Meeting (General Statement & Q&A); Supervisory Board, SET; TMM and other Daimler internal Executive Committees
- Provide weekly overview of Chinese Automotive Market
- Align corporate interests in the analysis of China’s big autoshows – common report
5 Excellence
- Implementation of target agreement
- Coordinate DNEA Excellence Workshop together with CEO Office and COB/S Excellence Days with COB/S Office
- Lead the local team by executing the corporate values and excellence-principles
6 Compliance
- Ensure corporate compliance acc. “Zero tolerance” for NEA Strategy in Beijing
7 Administrative
- Empower local team by daily coaching and establishing training measures
defined within LEAD
- Select/nominate replacements in agreements with supervisor
- Ensure selective /precise team communication as a result of leadership Meetings, Strategic Calls etc.
- Support future JV of Daimler & BYD to obtain invitation letters
Qualification required
o Education
University degree (technical or commercial/economical orientation)
O Experience
Asian working experience;
Practical experience in the implementation of product projects and/or other strategic projects.
General Business Management knowledge (Project-/Process management and methods)
O Specific Knowledge
Familiarity with Asian Business System & Structures;
Firm interpretation of continuously changing regulatory framework
