Position: Director – Engineering, China
Location: Chengdu
Reporting line: VP Core Product Development
Overview:
We are searching for a Director to be based in Chengdu reporting directly to the VP of Core Product Development in Canada. This role will be a key member of the Engineering management team, leading an organization about 50 people in Chengdu. This is a highly visible leadership position within Engineering and is key to our continued success in delivering the highest quality products to our customers.
Responsibilities:
The Director will be responsible for leading and managing the Chengdu Development and Testing teams of about 50 people, with 2 Managers and an admin reporting directly to him/her.
Detailed responsibilities include the following:
? Lead a development and test team for Operating System development and deployment of features;
? Be a leader for the site;
? Provide centralized technology, guidance, oversight, metrics, tracking and coaching;
? Plan, organize and control all the development and test activities in Chengdu;
? Work very closely with the respective product line managers, in China and global (US, Canada, etc.), to ensure the respective product functionality and quality, and ensure the delivery on budget and on time;
? A change agent that can drive continuous improvement in teams.
Qualifications:
? Possess a Bachelor/Master Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other relevant majors;
? 10+ years relevant experience with proven leadership by managing large teams;
? Experience of working in global companies, with very good verbal and written English communications;
? Deep experience and knowledge of Agile and LEAN;
? Proven experience in leading teams in development and test;
? Combination of software and hardware experience and knowledge of the embedded industry. Operating systems, enterprise software, virtualization and networking backgrounds are all of interest;
? Able to communicate goals and strategies effectively among diverse people;
? Able to hire and attract top talent
? Provide systematic approaches in problem solving, even vague, unique or unprecedented problems;
? An accountable person with high level of integrity and creative thinking.
