Position: Workshop Technician

Division/Department: Research & Development/ Future Center Asia

Location: Beijing

Main goals and objectives:

To work together with designers, studio engineer specialist, technical integration & layout specialist, leaders of T [X], UX and Design cross-functional teams to build & finish design mockups & models.

To build presentable small scale and 1:1 interior and exterior special mockups using combinations or wood, foam, metal and plastic. These mockups will be developed from CAD data.

These mockups will be presented within the Future Center team, to other group brands within VGC and BOM & EXCOM.

Success is realized when these mockups are used to assist and convince the decision makers (either Future Center internal decisions or BOM, EXCOM, PSK presentation to any of the Group brands).

The role will include:

? The build of accurate 1:1 interior ergonomic model mock ups

? Working with all workshop machinery to build mockups

? Working with 3D printing and rapid prototyping machinery

? Delivering board presentation physical mockups

? Refining, sanding, manually adjusting 3D printed samples

? Working with wood, foam, metal and other materials as appropriate to build mockups for appraisal.

? Ordering of materials and samples as required to support the Future Center

? Keeping up to date with the trends in workshop machinery – in particular rapid prototyping technology – to ensure the most efficient delivery of design mockups.

Your Responsibilities:

? Develop and deliver 1:1 and small scale physical mockups representing Future Center projects.

? To offer creative practical and pragmatic methods to create interior mockups … to “think out” how to layout & build these mock ups.

? Ordering of materials to support all workshop activities.

? Keep up to date with trends in mockup build in particular 3D printing and rapid prototyping.

? Work with 3D printing machines to create components for the design, UX and [X] teams.

? Skilled use of workshop machines (drilling, cutting, sanding) to create accurate mockups in wood, metal & foam.

Our Requirements:

? Minimum 3 years workshop experience.

? Skilled use of workshop tools and hardware: bandsaws, drilling, sanding etc.

? Familiarity of 3D printing and rapid prototyping technology.

? 100% team player

? Open minded, creative, solution focused, inquisitive

? Excellent communication, explanation and convincing skills

? Fluent in English. German and Chinese a plus
