Work in a fast-paced and dynamic team-based environment designing, developing and maintaining tools which allows the field and manufacturing organization to quickly detect and isolate defective hardware to the failing component on HP IPF servers. This engineer's primary role is offline diagnostic and utilities test development and maintenance for HP IPF servers. This includes developing offline diagnostic for the core electronic complex, memory, processor, IO cards, and peripherals

Responsibilities

- As a Software/Systems engineer, this person is responsible for working with the Manufacturing product engineers and field representatives to develop offline diagnostics and utilities for HPs line of IPF servers. This engineer should be proficient in C programming, and familiar with assembly language programming, EFI programming, Linux programming, computer architecture, PCIe error architecture, IPF architecture, and shell and expect scripting. This engineer will be expected to be able to design and maintain offline diagnostic test modules, triage diagnostic and utility related issues found by manufacturing, field and JOEM, plan and schedule diagnostic releases, and regression test diagnostic.

- This role requires the candidate to work efficiently with minimal supervision, be self-motivated and organized since they will likely be developing and maintaining diagnostics for multiple systems. This person must also be comfortable working with remote teams, working with multiple technical leaders at any given time and to work easily with engineers in partner organizations. It is desirable for the candidate to be familiar with and have some experience developing software for the Linux operating systems including drivers, loaders, and hardware error handlers.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent

- Minimum 4-6 years experience

Knowledge and Skills

- Proficient in C programming, and familiar with assembly language programming, EFI programming, Linux programming, computer architecture, PCIe error architecture, IPF architecture, and shell and expect scripting

- It is desirable for the candidate to be familiar with and have some experience developing software for the Linux operating systems including drivers, loaders, and hardware error handlers

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

- Software systems testing methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools

- Be comfortable working with remote teams, working with multiple technical leaders at any given time and to work easily with engineers in partner organizations

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels.
