Job Title: Manager - Advanced Manufacturing Engineering China

Location: Shanghai

Reports to: Director Manufacturing China

Position Summary:

The Manager AME (AME = Advanced Manufacturing Engineering) is the focal point in China EC (EC = Emission Control) for all topics related to manufacturing processes. He / she is the connection between the process engineers in the plants within China as well as the connection for MFG process related items outside China. As such he/she leading the development / implementation of new process technology, the Core Competency Teams (CCTs) and is involved in (potential) new projects from screening over industrialisation through to "SOP +90 days".

As we will have the position two times responsibility will be shared from a MFG process point of view between assembly & welding incl. manifolds and future CVS applications on one side and components like (pipe) bending and end-forming, (converter) canning, muffler (manufacturing) on the other side.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the Manager AME are defined by the scope of AME and CCT, in principle:

¨ Develop the concept of CCT within the plants in China and ensure alignment with EU and NA.

¨ Development of future manufacturing processes in order to ensure our technical competitive advantage.

¨ Improvement of current manufacturing processes to make them more robust and LEAN

¨ adopt current MFG processes to changing requirements

¨ Understand GD&T to review assembly, component layout and details to verify manufacturing feasibility

¨ Standardisation / Communization of Manufacturing Processes, Equipment and Tooling for China in alignment with the global CCTs

¨ Improve Business Process and report monthly for China, i. e. Capacity Utilisation, Capital Planning

¨ Ensure alignment with TEN-Standards in manufacturing concepts and between plants for Screening, Quotation Process and support cost estimation process

¨ Ensure robust planning for new project industrialisation / launch and execution of plan according to the respective customers requirements and TEN APQP / PPAP-standards

¨ Oversee industrialisation / launch from an Operations point of view and ensure support within plants China as well as with other SBUs in Asia, EU and NA - providing and reviewing support - in particular for processes new to China or new to a plant within China

¨ Lead technical / process view of development of capable suppliers and support counterparts in other SBU in their efforts to increase competitiveness through sourcing of equipment and tooling in LCC / BCC (LCC = Low Cost Country / BCC = Best Cost Country)

¨ Develop Chinese way of innovation and make available for the benefit of TEN globally (LCC / BBC equipment / Tooling / Processes)

¨ Frequent exchange with counterparts in EU and NA AME and CCTs to ensure know how transfer and benchmark for future initiatives like Launch Factory, Cpk pre-assessment, KBME (Knowledge Based Manufacturing & Engineering)

¨ External contacts and benchmarking with Universities, suppliers and institutions in order to increase both process know how as well as get contact to potential workforce

¨ Work closely with the product engineering groups (AE = Advanced Engineering / PE = Product Engineering / PD = Product Development) to ensure early involvement of the "process view"

¨ Support Customer teams with quotes, designs, VA/VE initiatives and technical presentations.

¨ Support the China Manufacturing Director in strategic and tactical topics

¨ Guide / coach CCT Leader & members to ..

ü Create / participate in development of design and process FMEA

ü Work with Model Shop / tool sources to verify tool and / or part construction (Verify and establish operational boundary conditions)

¨ Become certified in Lean for Manufacturing, Lean Product Development and Six Sigma Green Belt.

¨ Attend training sessions, seminars, and conferences to expand job knowledge and skills repertoire.

¨ Support and adhere to Tenneco EH&S policies and procedures

Requirements & Qualifications:

¨ Bachelor or above of mechanical engineering related major - min. 2 semesters in depths & success studies of joining technology and related materials know how

¨ 6 to 8 years manufacturing related experience of auto or mechanical industry, ideally in a multi-plant international environment

¨ Extensive experience in manufacturing process and working knowledge

¨ application of tools (BOS, 8D, Lean, Six Sigma, EVA, TVM, GD&T, MSA, G R&R, R@R)

¨ Analytical skills, conceptual thinking, structured approach to topics

¨ Self starter & doer with sound base education (we do not want a scientist nor a clerk)

¨ Good interpersonal and communication both in English and Chinese.

¨ Ability to function and lead in a team environment.

¨ Ability to travel to support the job function.

¨ Quality Mgmt System understanding, experience in ISO/TS 16949, NPIS, APQP/PPAP
